So 3 out of the 7 hatched. The others look to be mostly fully grow but never made it out :( I gave them an extra week but never made any progress.
I am so amazed that I got 3! Thank you again all for your encouragement and advice
3rd one has hatched
I'm going against all the rules so u candled the remaining 4- 1 looks like it has died- 1 little pekin bantam is still alive and looks healthy but I'm thinking still a couple days off... the Easter egger looks good but hard to see in- the wheaten Maran the shell is way too...
yeah i guess so :) still cant believe it!
I set the eggs under my broody Tuesday 23/5 in the afternoon, took them from the box on Tuesday 13/6 in the afternoon, put them into look down and 2 hatched on the 19/6 with hopefully a couple more ;).
The 2 that have hatched so far seem perfectly...
So hard knowing what to do- the funny thing is I had 20 eggs in my incubator- I put 13 of them into lockdown (4not fertile) and had 12 eggs hatch out on Monday/Tuesday... I wasn't even worried about the 6 I had under my broody and had them as a back up How wrong I was lol
Oh it is just so hard to decide what to do- I think I'm just going to leave it as it is and keep my fingers crossed for a miracle.
With the rolling I hope that my broody would have done that part for the first (guessing) 13-15days of development and hopefully that's enough so they don't get...
Thank you wicked chicken- yeah they have been in lockdown since I took over ;) humidity is at 65%... I was thinking too about Day 18... at least there is still hope
Ok great! I held onto the hope that the veins were still there and hadn't ringed... should I candle again or just leave them for a few more days??
Can anyone think of a reason for the delayed hatch??
Also if they have died could I tell from candling?
hi,
I had 5 eggs under a broody hen and on day 20 she gave up!!! i know! im so upset at her :(
she had been off for a couple house the day before but then returned to the nest.
I candled the eggs and could see healthy blood veins, and they looked to be developing fairly correctly for the time...
Thank you For the chart Kathy!
Definitely going to take it more into consideration! They free range in our backyard so aren't cooped up but do probably over eat
Thanks guys, I'm going to cut back on the treats- I really hope it's not fatty liver :(
Going to check her weight and make sure she's not too over or under.
