I actually did remove all toys, food, and beds before their meeting in the yard! And I think that it definitely helped as they moved around together - but yes, I think the leash was the thing that set them off. A bad mistake on my part. I haven’t unleashed just one of them again! Lol! It...
Sorry I take so long in between replies by the way! I guess I don’t have my notifications on.:idunno
I don’t know when there are comments until I actually go and check the thread!
Thanks for the tip! Snapping or clapping at the lab seems to bring her out of it most of the time. My Pyrenees just seems uninterested unless they’re in the yard together, so I kind of have to make her look at her. Lol!
Lol! Dogs are funny. So many people say that they don’t remember...
Oh yes.. I’m having to be very careful. They definitely remember their little argument lol. I’ve seen multiple stares and a couple of growls so far. They’re both big dogs and with me not being a very big person, I get a little nervous if they fight. My Pyrenees mix, alone, is almost my size...
Thanks so much for your responses! I’ll definitely try all of this. I guess I will separate and start over. I really hope they can be friends, they’re both very good dogs separately. I’d love for them to get along!
Thanks again! I appreciate it! :)
Hello! I’ll start off by saying this might be long-winded!:lol:Sorry in advance!
So, I’ve had a Great Pyrenees mix for about 5 or 6 years now (that would put her at either 6 or 7 years old). Her name is Kimper and I trained her to guard my chickens when I adopted her. She’s done a great job...
Thank you for the thoughtful answer :hugs
It is strange to me too but I agree with you on the crests. After doing some more research, I won’t be getting crested again... Even though they’re such cute little nuggets.
I hope to get some more babies later this summer to try again!
Thank you all so much for the condolences and hugs! :hugs I really appreciate it.
I do plan on trying again. I had the most fun I’ve ever had raising those ducks. I loved it even more than raising chickens I think (just don’t tell my chickens that :duc ). I think I am going to eventually...
Sorry I just saw all of these, I’ve been out of town for a couple days! Thank you all for the replies.
To answer your questions... The night before both their deaths, my lighter colored one had 2 puncture wounds on her head by her crest. I made a post on the Emergency forum about it and...
Sad news about my duckies... I woke up this morning to both my babies dead. I’m not sure how or why but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I’m devastated. Here’s some pictures of them growing up until this point.
Sorry for the spam of pictures.
Thank you.
They weren’t housed with the chickens, they were completely separate. I do know the crest injury wasn’t from one of my chickens because they hardly ever interacted and if they did, I was right there. And yes I won’t get crested next time, but I didn’t intend to get them in the...
I actually just had my two 5-week-old ducklings together but I let them out in the yard (under supervision) with my chickens once a day. So that’s why I was wondering if I need to spray anything on it.
I have unfortunate news. When I got up early this morning to take care of the animals, both my ducklings had passed away. I’m not sure how or why but I’m heartbroken and feel like the worst duck owner. They both seemed fine at about midnight last night but at 8 this morning they were gone...
Thank you! I cleaned it with just a wet cloth last night so I’ll put some ointment on it now. As for keeping the chickens from pecking it, I don’t have any Blue-Kote to spray on it but I have some Apple Bitter Spray that I use for my dogs. Would that work, or no?
One of my 5-week-old ducklings has somehow got 2 puncture wounds on her head! She has a small crest and the injuries are right next to/under the crest feathers. I’m not sure how it happened but my guess would be she might have got caught on some loose chicken wire that I haven’t covered with...
I know it! I can’t stop holding them, they’re already spoiled! :p
Yes, I think he/she is. The other one has a few wisps of feathers on the head too but you can barely see them.
Thank you!! So would that mean that they are possibly females?:fl
Here’s some new Easter pictures of my babies! I just had to do a little photo shoot, they’re too cute:love
They are actually a little more yellow than these pictures show. Any more ideas on breed? These pics are a little better than yesterday’s.
Happy Easter!!:jumpy
