Mine have been practicing.... they get in their nest box root around & squawk.... I sure will I would of had a video today it was so funny they were all running around in the coop singing the egg song & the rooster was encouraging too.... instead of crowing he was squawking something else...
I also found another egg... the same color... but smaller outside the coop & it was broken.... as far as I know she is the only green egg layer I have. could she have laid both eggs today... I am sure I would have seen it this a.m. if it was already there.
So here it is! Lucy, my Americana hen laid the 1st egg! The whole hen house including the rooster were cheering her on! Wow! That was fun!!! :) I put up these pretty lace curtains yesterday so that must have done the trick.... lol!
Well.... I don't have an egg yet.....lol!!! but I think they all think they are going to lay one soon! It just amazes me that they hatch from an egg.... never even see an adult chicken & know how to do all this stuff.... Even though I don't have an egg yet I sure have gotten my money worth...
So.... I am waiting for the 1st egg.... chickens are 18 & 19 weeks old... this afternoon my Americana hen was sitting in the nest box.... & the rooster was serenading her..... & all the other hens came running into the coop doing the egg laying song..... I was laughing so hard.... (not in...

I am new to chickens.... I have 7 pullets 17 & 18 weeks old. 1 rooster.... thought it was a pullet. now I am not sure if I should keep him or get rid of him.... one way or another.... lol! 1st choice would be to re home him he is a beautiful light brahma. Thanks you in advance for any advice!
He came from Murrary Mc Murray I think I bought all 8 of my pullets from a lady that ordered 50 brown egg layer pullets from them. She didn't need all of them so I bought them from her. I thought he was a rooster from day 1.... he strutted around like one & is now herding the hens around. Not...
