1st egg!!! I am so excited!

Mine have been practicing.... they get in their nest box root around & squawk.... I sure will I would of had a video today it was so funny they were all running around in the coop singing the egg song & the rooster was encouraging too.... instead of crowing he was squawking something else.... Lucy wasn't making any noise... but they all seemed to know what was going on... which totally amazes me.... they have never even seen an adult chicken. I got them when they were a week old.

It is funny how they have all the instincts and don't have to see it to learn it. Is this your first chickens?

yes, these are my 1st chickens... I have raised canaries & mini horses.... but not chickens....

My flock of 8 has just started laying and I think it's 3 different hens.
I've been getting 1 egg per day for a week then today 2 eggs then a third that had a soft shell.
Is that just a first egg from another hen?
I saw one today who kept sitting down at every chance then went in coop, it had to be her.

The other eggs we got have really tough shells.

Any thoughts?
