    I was leaning toward the Black Giant but I thought the free chick is a Rare Exotic? Black Giants are a standard breed.

    Just got an order from Murray McMurray and I got a free black chick. In my order I have 2 Black Australorps and this one looks different. I have looked and the only think I can find that this chick matches is a Black Star female but those are not exotic. Here are pics.

    Yes the white ones are the meaties. All the birds will be 6 weeks on Wednesday. Those Cornish X's really grow fast. I know what you mean about digging in rocks, I have had to before. The worst part about my yard is all the clay. It becomes a pain to dig through that.

    These only have 4 more weeks and i know thats all they do is eat, sleep, and poop but i was hoping the odor would be somewhat more managable. I just want to make sure i am doing the DLM correct. My layers go out to thwir part of the coop in 2 weeks.

    I am at about 7 inches now. I have gable vents, soffit vents, 1 window thats open during the day and i leave the pop doors and the people doors open during the day. They are not going outside yet. I try to get them to and they freak out. Not sure if its the ramps or what.

    We moved the meaties out to the coop this evening. I have fresh wood chips about 5" deep and a layer of dried leaves on top. I need to get more chips for the run tomorrow. Does this seem like a good start to the DLM?
