@FarmerGirl101 I have cleaned everything up already but I'll find a photo that matches what she was pooping. It wasn't always watery, more like a paste. At the end her poop was no longer bright green but smelled like rotten egg, so I believe it was peritonitis. I'll still look around for a photo...
I had given my Tina her last dose of gatorade around 1:00 am and decided to sleep on the couch a couple hours and then get up and tube some food for her, but sadly she slipped away sometime in the next couple hours :hit
I love having ducks so much, and everything I've read about them says they...
@casportpony it does seem that the gatorade is perking her up some. I just gave her her second tube of it. Now I'll do another in a couple hours just to be on the safe side. How long after that should I be able to give her a tube of food? And thank you for your help, btw, I appreciate it so much...
She is very very weak and tired. The back of her neck looks bad because she was a favorite of our drake. I think that's why she was compromised in the first place. None of the others are sick yet and it's been a week and a half, so I figured I'd see something going through the flock by now...
Okay, I did about 40 ml of gatorade, got that down okay. I will wait an hour and do it again. I have to order baytril so it's going to take it probably until Wednesday to get to me...honestly if this tube feed doesn't work, she won't live until Wed. I hope this helps her pull through until then....
She has been drinking water on her own daily, and I have been adding electrolytes in her water every day as well. Do you think I still need to do water first? And do you mean 2-3 ml per 100 grams of her weight?
okay, I think I've found something that will do. Just gonna watch a couple quick youtube videos so I don't mess this up. I've mixed up some of her feed with a few meal worms, probiotics, vitamins, and electrolytes, kelp, flax seed meal, and a tiny plum, with a tad of yogurt and honey and water...
Okay..I will see if I can get some...I live in a very remote area so the nearest place I might be able to get that is an hour away if they carry it. I'm still looking around my house for something too
I can probably get some baytril if I get it delivered here in time...I am trying to find something for a tube feed right now...I have zero tubes and tractor supply had nothing. I have to come up with something quick
Does anyone have any ideas of Baytril dose and any ideas on enticing a sick duck to eat? I cannot get my hands on a tube and only have a syringe... I'm having a tough time with it and don't want to hurt my poor girl
@casportpony Thank you for the insight. Do you have any recommendations on Baytril dosage? She is 4 lbs. And can I get baytril for cats and dogs and give appropriate dose?
I have tried tube feeding but can't seem to find a tube that is gentle enough so for now I am syringe feeding carefully...
I don't, but I can try to get one tomorrow. It's normal consistency, only it is very obviously green, like green food coloring and also sometimes tinged with blue-ish
Hey all
Sadly I have another sick duck. I fear this is something insidious that is going to slowly creep through my flock....
I have seen some dark dark dark greenish blackish poop here and there in my flock, and the occasional pea greenish tan, but nothing consistent. Everyone else is acting...
Thank you so much @gilbert2 that is very kind of you. I have updated on a few new threads but just to update here, I did end up losing Smeagol- I'm still not quite sure what exactly was wrong but she was only half the size she should have been and wasn't thriving at all. I tried all I could...
They all seem to be acting fine, it's just a really weird poo that I haven't seen before and they really haven't gotten to forage other than under piles of leaves because the grass isn't up in their run yet.
Gollum does dunk her head, but maybe it isn't enough? I will try to give her a deeper...
