I am pretty sure I have a couple of Lavender Orpington Roos on my hand. Is anyone in the BR area interested? Can't have them in the city limits
Very nice. They only swarm when you have bread!
They can be seen here...
I can't have roosters in the city limits here in Baton Rouge. Is there any chance these suckers are going to turn hen on me? They look awfully rooster..... I would like to sell them as soon as I can if they are roosters.

1. What do you do with old sand when it needs to be replaced ( as I understand it needs to be about once a year)
I plan on using it to fill low spots in the yard
2. will it wash away in the next rain storm and cove my yard in poop and sand?
If its elevated it will probably level out naturally...
What's funny is that the lavender orpingtons I have that are the same age and same breeder all have very developed combs. Do All orpingtons age the same regardless of color? How much longer should I wait before reposting pictures?
I need your help. I have three Buff Orpington Chicks that I need help sexing. Hatched July 4th, 2015. Approx 5 weeks old.

My first chicks! 3 buffs and 3 lavender orpingtons. Pretty excited, trying to keep the chicks at the right temp but it seems the garage is the only place warm enough where they aren't huddled together... It's up to 99 now and they're finally moving around. I'll back the away in a few to keep it...

No experience with either but from what I understand the saddle types are for pvc round pipe and the threaded ones are for flat surfaces. Being that the small pvc pipe is smaller the water will heat up faster if it's not consumed quickly. (Think of a garden hose). A larger quantity in a five...
from all the sites I've seen, the shipping is more expensive than the chicks themselves. A lot also have minimum numbers to order, I'd still be ordering excess chicks. From my research, buff orpingtons, leghorns, and barred rocks are what I want. I'm open to suggestions but I really just want a...
Thanks, I'm going to check the feathers and do my best buy I'll just give the extras away. I've spent more money on this dang coop a few extra bucks on chicks is the least of my worries.... with 50/50 odds I guess I'll pick up 6 or 7 in order to get 3 hens....
Ok La yers. I've located my BOs. I realize determining the sex of chicks is tough stuff and pretty much a guess unless you know how to vent chicks. Baton Rouge only allows three hens. I want to raise them with the family and dogs as early as possible to better my chances of a friendly household...
I know DE might help to keep some of the places dry where mosquitoes might breed. However with the rain we're having everything's wet. I don't have chickens yet but I can speak to the performance of Thermacell. They work great. I don't know if I'd hang it on the inside of the coop but I don't...
