    The Duck Thread

Does anyone know how to take care of a broody duck? We've had a couple try but they keep giving up. One had her eggs eaten by a snake then tried to incubate infertile ones, the other just gave up because it was getting cold. We know the mothball trick that keeps away snakes, but do you have any...

    Broody duck trouble! Please help!

No, I haven't found the eggs. They're just gone with no explanation and she's either wandering around the pen or sitting on an empty nest! I'm so confused! :( poor ducky. It's been really hot and humid lately, does that have anything to do with it?

    Duck eggs not hatching??

If they die in the egg it has a red ring around the inside, or that's how it works with chicken eggs. (at least, early on.) Could one of the eggs have fallen out and she's sitting on it?

The other ducks in the pen were Giant Pekins, Welsh Harlequins, and Welsh Variagated...

    Questions about a nesting duck...

As far as I know, ducks build nests when they need them. But my ducks use their nesting boxes as well as pretty much anywhere.

    Questions about a nesting duck...

Ok, so I have a nesting duck and I don't know what to do about it. She built a nest in the back of the pen and there are eggs in it. She occasionally sits on it, but not as often as she used to. it's been hot lately, but still, she hasn't really been that motherly. Also, I think she's a Welsh...
