Does anyone know how to take care of a broody duck? We've had a couple try but they keep giving up. One had her eggs eaten by a snake then tried to incubate infertile ones, the other just gave up because it was getting cold. We know the mothball trick that keeps away snakes, but do you have any...
Ok wait, update, there are actually still two eggs left on the nest, and she's still on them, it's just that 16 or more have disappeared with no explanation. :(
No, I haven't found the eggs. They're just gone with no explanation and she's either wandering around the pen or sitting on an empty nest! I'm so confused! :( poor ducky. It's been really hot and humid lately, does that have anything to do with it?
If they die in the egg it has a red ring around the inside, or that's how it works with chicken eggs. (at least, early on.) Could one of the eggs have fallen out and she's sitting on it?
