All came from "Black Australorp" bin....

It would be useful to know what other birds the hatchery or breeder sells to make a more accurate guess. However, The chicks in the first photo looks like they may have some Araucana in them and the second photo sort of look like a non white variety of leghorn. What is most likely though, if...

Preventing potential infection in current flock after having a sick bird on the property.

Hi there, I recently bought 2 White Leghorn chicks at 2 weeks of age. They were in a quarantine enclosure since I brought them home two days ago. While one chick seemed in all respects healthy, the other begun sneezing after each sip of water and around about once a minute if she wasn't...

    Gender Determination - Lavender Araucana

I do hope so! Otherwise I may have to stop recommending them! I'm awaiting a response so I'll post pics of the replacements here if the breeder plays the game.

    Gender Determination - Lavender Araucana

They are just under 7 weeks old. I'm so disappointed! I think you're probably right though. Thanks for the reply.

Gender Determination - Bantom Buff Pekin

Hey guys, I have two Buff Pekins that were sexed as chicks. They are now showing a bit more red in their combs than I think they should be for 7 weeks old. However, I am new to this breed and would appreciate the opinion of someone with some more experience. Thank you very much! Nic.

Gender Determination - Bantom Silver Pencilled Wyandotte

Hi there, I have four Silver Pencilled Wyandotte Bantams at 7 weeks old that were purchased as sexed day old chicks. However, all four are displaying quite a bit of red in their faces. Can anyone with some more experience please have a look and let me know your opinion? Thanks very much! Nic

    Gender Determination - Lavender Araucana

Hi there, I bought these 2 beautiful birds as "professionaly sexed" Lavender Araucana Hens, from a reliable breeder. However, I've seen a fair bit of hackle flaring displayed by at least one, maybe both, of these girls/boys. Now I'm noticing a fair bit of redness in the combs and around the...

    Frizzle?

They look like Cochin Bantams... Do you know how old they are? The Buff looks like a cockerel if they are really young... but knowing the age will help immensely... They look happy and healthy! :)

    Easter Egger Gender?

Generally roosters are slower feather growers then hens, so some people search for a lack of tail feathers to confirm the sex of a rooster. Personally I would not solely rely on this method.

About 3 month old chick. Sex and possibly ID mix?

Hi there! 2 out of 18 of my 5 week old EE's have single combs. They both look like cockerels as their combs are much larger than your chick and are deep red already. Based on this I think you finally might have a hen. But I'm not an expert and EE's can be hard to sex so I look forward to reading...

    pullet or roo

At that age I'm leading toward cockerel... This is due to those big red wattles and deep red comb. But I'm not an expert, luckily on this site one is likely to chime in soon! Quite a pretty bird either way!

    pullet or roo

Hi there, How old is the bird in question?

    Easter Egger Gender?

I have 18 5 week old EEs and this thread has helped me confirm that 12 are very likely to be roosters. Thanks! Their combs and wattles are of similar size and are developing the same deep red colour as your two cockerels.

    How smart are your chickens?

Hi there! I'm extremely interested to hear about how cunning or devious your chickens are. I am trying to learn as much as I can about my new hobby, and any examples of extreme intelligence in these birds would be fantastic to read... Thanks!

    Frizzle?

These are my frizzles. They're 10 days old today. The Cochins wing feathers began lifting/frizzling at day 7 and the white crested polish starting showing at 3 days. (White crested polish was bought as a standard/flat so I couldn't believe my eyes when this happened!) As for your gorgeous bird...
