The "waste" subject again. Picky birds??

You may want to try making the hole smaller. My hens are notorious wasters and the smaller the hole the less they can flick out with their beaks. I looked at your photo of your setup. Ours have a bit of an upward angle to the pipe instead of a 90 degree. That may help some too. I have a pipe...

The "waste" subject again. Picky birds??

I've had this problem with tubes. My husband put a pipe reducer in the hole of the pipe backwards so the skinny part pokes into the big tube. It forces them to reach in and cant kick it out. Also I use a high sided dish pan inside their coop and add water to it and it makes a mash that they love...

    incubator death

I'm most definitely going to try the dry hatching this time. Seems like that's the general rule that people go by. Teach me to not count my chickens before they hatch for sure!

    Marek's eye or bicolored?

Did you purchase your chicks from a commercial retailer or did you hatch them? The ones that I've bought as chicks have come with the vaccine.

    incubator death

its a forced air incubator. "Farm Innovations Pro Series Incubator" Got it at Tractor Supply. The thermometer was way off..like 10 degrees off and would fluctuate like crazy. I stuck another one down inside at egg level and then used a meat thermometer in one of the little holes at the top...

    Marek's eye or bicolored?

I had a hen that at one point had a similar eye. But it started out looking like an infection of the area around the eye, with redness and swelling. The pupil then became weirdly shaped and then got bigger and bigger and no longer responded to light. She is three years old now and she can not...

    incubator death

So this is the first time I've ever incubated eggs. We had one chick hatch out in the middle of the night, but nothing on the other eggs in the incubator. I water candled them to see if there was anything going to happen with them as we are on day 23 already. I had one egg that floated but no...
