    Missing SO MANY eggs!

Yes, the eggs that are coming up missing are from a broody pen set up that only house the current broodies and the eggs they're sitting on.

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

Shoot. $500 is a lot of money for me today!

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

Well, the camera won't work with the layout of the pen without going off anytime the broodys moved... so I added more inches of dirt around the inside perimeter to see if there was anyway that would make a difference. Haven't lost any of the 7 hatched chicks or any of the remaining 5 eggs under...

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

In other news, saw a few fuzzy faces under one of the mommas when I was out there.

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

I just quadruple checked the whole pen, but it's only about 4 ft tall so nothing too far up that I wouldn't bump into if it were up there. Man, that'd be the death of me! Lol. My uncle is lending me his security cam tomorrow, so I'll see what I can catch on cam!

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

I will definitely post the culprit as soon as I get it figured out! Our new broody pen is wood/wire/on dirt ground with pine shavings, too. Something like a tall tote does make sense since I know it has to be a small snake and that may be too tall for it! Maybe?! Lol, I'm desperate! And thank...

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

I wish I knew how many at a time... but I haven't been checking daily. I just checked in on them this morning and the broody with 9 a couple days ago only has 5! So mad. This new broody pen is closed at all times so I can see our main bird barn pop door letting in a snake but not this one. I so...

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

I'm definitely on the snake train as far as culprits... but there's literally NO WHERE it can hide from me in the broody pen where I wouldnt see it. I'm not sure how it'd get through the small hexagon wire with a belly full of eggs, either! So interesting...

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

This wouldn't be my case. I candle at day three and five and discard any infertile eggs very early on so nothing ugly busts open during hatch and ruins the nest! And our new broody pen they are currently in is open ground dirt floor. Thanks for the info!

Pipped egg lunchtime nothing happening updated sadly

I wouldn't worry yet. It seems like I always have a few lazier chicks that spend A LOT of time pipped before zipping. Just keep an eye on the membrane and make sure it isn't drying out and shrinking wrapping the little babe and try to be patient. :)

    Missing SO MANY eggs!

Hey, guys! I see topics about this problem but their answers are still leaving me soooo confused! I have had three broody rounds this year. Our first broody sat on a dozen eggs and hatched 6, largely because of eggs that go missing. We have a converted shed on a concrete slab that is super...

We just had our first broody hatch! Six beautiful Olive Egger chicks. I need help! We're looking to add turkeys ASAP. Does anyone in or near the Ft. Smith area have poults for sale? I'd love to not have them shipped!

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Its been a VERY long time since I was on, so I had to finally post what I joined this thread initially dreaming about! That olive is out of one of my F2 OEs and this next month or so I'll be separating for F3s! So happy with my eggs so far. Love seeing everyone's colors!

    Cracked Fertile Egg

My mom accidentally dropped a fertile egg on day 10 and the fall gave it a real nasty looking smash, but since the membrane hadn't been hurt she slipped it back in the incubator and on day 21, voila! Perfectly healthy little chick hatched. If be afraid anything like tape would hurt during the...

    Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hey guys and gals! Long time since I've checked back here... I'm curious about a few things so OF COURSE I run here for help. ;) The 4H pullet chain! We have a handful of birdies going to show this week and we've never entered so I am just super curious as to what exactly is being judged...

    Dog food?

My whole flock will attack any dog food bowl left sitting around with food in it EVERY morning. If I don't get to it in time, it'll be pecked clean in no time. Never had any health issues... Just a couple of hungry dogs!

    Aggressive Groundhog--Might Have Rabies

Chickens cannot get rabies. Rabies can only be spread through mammals, not avian species.
