Interesting! :-) Since you know they are not show quality, chances are that they have a bit of cochin or bantam cochin because the straight comb is a recessive gene. Pure silkies do not have a straight comb, which means that your chicks have to be part cochin (which is a common breed to mix with...

My silkies are all quite meaty! :'-D I assure you that they are eating well. They definitely eat all parts of their feed, but I appreciate the idea. I will keep that in mind just in case. I like the idea of keeping them busy! :-) I will see if I can get them something new like toys to mess...
