Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but there wasn't much to see.
What happened was I performed an eggtopsy on day 14 because four of my eggs had a similar dark circle (like a dark sphere within the egg; Nothing like a blood ring) and showed no signs of blood vessels. I cracked open the...
Yes, I candled my eggs. And I apologize for the lack of pictures. I tried to upload them, but the app won't let me. I thought the thread was deleted, but I guess not, eh? I apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you so much for your help!
I am having trouble figuring out what day my chicken eggs are at. My hens weren't laying, but began laying while I was on vacation (Don't worry; I have a great setup), and now I don't have a clue what day they're on. I was hoping that you could help me out. I have two broody hens, and one's...
It's a bit hard to say. I believe the one on the right is a silver silkie. I want to say the white-colored ones are paints, but their black coloration is only present on their tails and their wings. Despite this, my best guess on those two is that they are paints (That is only my best GUESS...
Oh, I love my silkies! :) I love their personalities, so I'm actually glad I chose this breed. And I've read up on how to break a broody hen, so I hope this solves the problem. Thanks!
I have 6 silkies; 1 rooster and 5 hens. All are young and should be laying well. They are all on a very nutritious diet and receive all the things needed in their food.
They were just laying plenty. Maybe one egg a day... And then they stopped. I know that silkies don't lay much, but it's been...

OH, NO! SOMEONE, please help!!! I just checked up on my chickens and someone has mustard all over her face, and one of the mustard-filled eggs is missing! Help??
My silkies are all quite meaty! :'-D I assure you that they are eating well. They definitely eat all parts of their feed, but I appreciate the idea. I will keep that in mind just in case.
I like the idea of keeping them busy! :-) I will see if I can get them something new like toys to mess...
