    @http://www.backyardchickens.com/u/342087/rubynala97 I did the float test and the egg did a low float, completely vertical. Does this mean it is no good? I thought I saw somewhere that it should angle slightly at this stage.

    I had several eggs hatch over the last 2 days - I found that some do take longer than others. 2 of mine pipped last night by 9pm but they didn't hatch out until around noon today. I would wait it out and see what happens. I've read that some chicks take as long as 24 hours after the first...

    I was given fertile eggs by a friend to allow my broody Rhode Island Red to sit on. She did a wonderful job with them until hatch day. Every time she heard a peep she pecked at the shell of the egg. One chick died as a result of this (membrane dried out). Another egg was broken by her "dancing"...
