Sorry I've not updated you all. Ella is 100% fine, thank god!! It was a very scary time and I just want to thank you all for your help and support xxxxx
Well, it's been 2 days since Ella ate the pellets, she seems absolutely fine thank god!! I found some nice big juicy worms for her and she's loving them, eating no problem!! her neck seems to have sorted itself out, such a difference from the other day. Now we just need to get the weekend over...
Fingers crossed, she seems to be a little better. She took a couple of worms off my hand, she did seem to have a bit of trouble eating them, but she did it in the end. I normally use pet safe slug pellets, I have no idea where my brother found these horrid things.
Thank you for your replies...
Yesterday my 3 Cayuga ducks got onto an uncovered veg plot and eat an unknown amount of slug pellets. We gave them milk to drink as we thought it would at least line their tummy's. I saw all 3 this morning and they were fine, but just got home and Ella is not right at all. She's very unsteady...
I put the date on them (so we use the oldest first) and put them in a bowl, I don't keep eggs in the fidge. If i give any away, I use chicken egg boxes and put a rubber band around it - only thing I could thing of!
Adrian - So it's ok to change the humidity on day 10 if needed then, just so i know for the future? I've looked at the pics that Kelly was talking about and all seems to be normal. It's amazing what a difference a day can make, I can see my little duckie starting to form (kind of!). Also, is...
Hi,
I put 3 eggs in an incubator on the 1st July. I read sites that said the for duck eggs it sould be 99.5 temp and 55% humidity. I candled them last night and can see veins and what not.
Problem - I have just been looking up Cayuga ducks incubation times to get ready for the next couple of...
I think I'm going to get an incubator, and try again with another 3 eggs. I already have 3 ducks so don't want too many. I have a big garden, but too many ducks can be sooooo messy!!.
Thing is, I will be starting chemo in the next few weeks, so having baby ducks to look after and watch come...
100 % correct Charlotte. About 2 hours ago Rosie went running up the garden with said egg in her bill. It looks like its been dead for a while ( I didn't see it but my brother did). The last egg does smell, so think that has passed too
So, I've done the natural thing - didn't work, so I'm...
I have a cayuga duck called Rosie who is broody but was sitting on duff eggs, so I bought 3 eggs for hatching and they arrived on the 24th May. I left 3 of her duff eggs under her too, but she ate them over 3 days about 2 weeks later. Then about 7 days ago she kicked one of the good eggs out of...
My only concern is if they do get a disease it may harm the chicks inside. I'm quiet happy for her to be where she is (my potato's aren't ready anyway!lol)
Hi - I am new to hen keeping (got 6 in Jan this year). I have a broody hen called Vegas who has decided my potato pots are the ideal place to make her nest!!! She has been sitting on her eggs (7 in total) for about a little over a week now, but it was only 2 days ago I found out where see was...
