Got it! This is crossed up between my Golden Laced Sebright Rooster and a Dark Brahma hen. Got 3 more chicks that hatched a week ago. This one is a bout 1 month old.
I bought an incubator a few weeks ago and was able to hatch out a chick that is crossed between my little Sebright roo and a Dark Brahma hen! Coolest little chick! Bigger than the batam chicks and already has feathers on its feet. Looks like it's gonna be marked like a Golden Laced Sebright...
Just a quick update. I bought an incubator a few weeks ago and successfully hatched out a Sebright/dark brahma cross chick! I'm pretty stoked about it! The chick appears like its gonna take the Sebright colors with feathers on its feet. I hatched out several sebright batams and this cross is...
My little Sebrights have been awesome so far. 3 hens and each has been laying 4 to 5 eggs a week. I know they aren't great layers but 12-15 little white eggs a week from my 3 little hens works out perfect!
My other 2 Sebrights both layed today! All 3 hens I have had layed by 5.5 months old. The first to lay is giving us a perfect little white egg everyday. Hopefully the others will do the same! A lot of people told me don't expect eggs from them till next spring and very few at that.....so far...
I have 4 that are 5 months. None of their wings are clipped and I free range mine everyday with my Brahmas. While they can fly if excited or spooked I've never had it bean issue. They are back in bed with the others before dark. Probably ain't gonna catch em but they are so quick I don't know...
What's your experience with Sebrights and egglaying? I've read read where they lay really small eggs and not many at that. I have one hen that started laying early last week. While the eggs are small, they are almost the same size as the eggs my young dark Brahma is laying. She is also...
My sebright layed her second egg today. 2 eggs in 3 days.....I'll take it. This one was a little bigger. Surprisingly it's not much smaller than the brown eggs my dark brahma has been laying.
Mink are the worst to deal with imho. It's fairly simple to keep coons and such out but mink are determined once they find food and if they can get their nose started in an opening they will get in. I've trapped what seems to be hundreds during trapping season here in Indiana. A really dumb...
One of my Brahmas laid her first egg about 2 weeks ago at 4.5 months. Had a golden laced sebright bantam lay her first one today! Pretty stoked since a lot of people say they won't lay the first year. This one laid just shy of 5 months!
Has anyone ever had any success crossing a Golden Laced Sebright rooster and a Dark Brahma hen? I'm new to all this chicken stuff. Just curious if anyone had been successful with this cross.
Got my first chickens early April. 4 dark Brahmas. I read where they mature slow but at 4.5 months old I got my first small brown egg Saturday evening! Had another yesterday evening and saw her go back in the coop while ago while all the others where out free ranging. Snuck over and looked...
