Thank you. It was definitely touch and go earlier this week with everyday life. It seems to improve a little everyday. They are a mixed flock of Game, Australorp, a Cochin and a couple Wyandotte. I was thinking mice and snakes as well. I can't figure out, if it is one of those, how they would...
That part is kinda up in the air. I acquired them from my aunt who was relocating. She has hatched most of them and thinks they range from a year to 1.5 years.
I'm still getting used to raising chickens, so please excuse my ignorance on the subject. I'm sure everyone is aware of the recent "1000 Year Flood" to hit my great State, and it's been absolutely horrible for the families and individuals in parts. My flock was laying well throughout the rains...
Okay so, the wife would like to raise some of our flock from scratch (pun not intended) but I'm trying to get the jist of this hatching our own thing. What is this "holding eggs for incubation" talk? Like I mentioned, extremely new venture for me. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. TIA
I feel ya dude! I mentioned to my wife that I wanted to build a coop and get some birds, next thing I know, I have the materials and a whole flock within a week! She is the absolute best!!
They are doing great so far. I wasn't expecting to get 9 eggs in the first 48 hours of relocation but we've started a little collection already. A few have been identified as American Game, a Barred Rock hen, a couple that look like Wyandotte, and black ones that have black legs... Any help on...
Random backyard layers. I'm relocated the flock from family. No one is really sure exactly what they are. I figured it would be a good learning experience for our son to have a little hands on experience.
