    Unusual mold issue

It’s been over 48hrs and I didn’t see anything weird today. Spent most of the day in my backyard (too much yard work) and so I was able to watch them a lot. Hoping they stay healthy. Also if anyone has any ideas of how to catch a fox that would be awesome. It took out my kids favorite chicken...

    Unusual mold issue

I went on vacation and forgot to empty my counter compost into my large compost bin. I got back the night before my 48hr shift and threw a veggie in there and noticed it was incredibly moldy and thought to dump it but completely spaced. Long story short my son and father decided it would be a...

Glad I could help! It’s an awesome door. We went on a 6 day vacation and didn’t have to worry about them one bit

Official BYC Poll: Which waterer is better: Nipples or cups?

I still haven’t quite figured that part out yet. I may just drain that portion and use a heated water container

    Opinions on Automatic Coop Doors?

I did hours of searching and it seemed like most doors were a pulley system up and down or they cost an arm and a leg. My fear was they didn’t lock. My run isn’t 100% secure because they go in at night and have a locking door that no predators can get into. Anyways I went with the omlet...

Put a bench in the coop, self watering system from a 55gallon barrel (eventually the roof will drain to the barrel), and a food bucket that’s water proof...ish.

    BRL Wyandotte gender?

I’m guessing/hoping pullet. I’d have really horrible luck to get 4 (already have 2 for sure Roos away) roos when they were supposed to be sexed hens

    BRL Wyandotte gender?

I got two BRL Wyandotte’s from Murdoch’s, both are supposed to be female. One grew way slow, slower than the two barred rocks I got a week later. The other grew way quick. Wondering if the bigger one is a male. I’ll get better pictures tomorrow hopefully but here’s the three I took yesterday...

    Way smaller chick?

She’s finally growing. Still smaller than the others but is outside with them all holding her own. I’m starting to wonder if her bigger “sister” is actually a “brother” and that’s why she didn’t grow as much. The bigger one has pretty big waddles for 6 weeks.

My back is finally feeling better, got the gate made and chicks moved in! Last night they needed help getting into their coop, tonight they went in all on their own before the auto door closed.

Put up about 90% of the wire and then blew my back out. So I’m out of commission to finish the door and roosts for the next few days. I have a makeshift door made so my beagle quits pooping in the run 🤦‍♂️

Chick hurt her wing, need advice

Thankfully after cleaning it a bit I think it is just a wound and no break. She seems to be walking around fine with it and it’s not hanging down

Chick hurt her wing, need advice

My son heard a chick screaming this morning so he ran down to the brooder to find a chick stuck on a wire. I had one of those chick treats that you hang. Somehow she managed to land perfectly so the wire that I hung it with went through her wing. I have no idea what to do at this point. It looks...
