my chicks are due tomorrow; I set 7 eggs in my brinsea mini advance; candles about a week ago and had 6 good eggs. 5 of the 6 eggs have already started to pip. believe this will be a good hatch. will take pics and post later. also plan to do some video once things get rolling.
EDIT...
i did a final candle last night; out of my 4 remaining eggs, look like one dies around day 8 - 10. the other three look fine. only 6 days to go - hope all goes well from here on out. got the video cam ready to go for next weekend.

ok, it has been 8 days now since i set the eggs; i candled this morning; out of the 5 eggs that were placed in the incubator 4 look good with chick inside. one never got off the ground so removed it. i love this little incubator (Brinsea mini advance).

yea, me too as posted in a different thread. when i was a young pip i had two incubators - neither would hold a steady temperature; for humidity - who knows; needless to say i didn't have very many successful hatches. however, with the mini advance, i am expecting much much better...
cool. i got the same incubator about a week and a half ago and love it. put 5 eggs in there from a local farmer last saturday. Has been rock solid stable every since. temp at 99.5 - 99.6. i love the auto egg turner. in fact i made a video and it is on youtube at...
yea, the other good thing about setting today is the due date will be on july 2 which is the 4th of july holiday weekend so have an extra day (monday) to look after the new chicks before heading back to work. i plan to take lots of pictures and video of the happy event when the time comes. my...
I'm in. i just set 5 eggs in my new Brinsea mini advance about 30 minutes ago (sat june 11). mixture of breeds - predominantly RI reds. first time to hatch eggs in about 35 years and i am just as excited as i was when i was 15.

i agree with the comments regarding over restrictiveness; unfortunately, we (not literally we) bring it on ourselves. the few complainers have a much louder voice than the majority (squeaky wheel gets the oil) and the "concerned" city councilman is more than happy to come up with some new...
hi. i am glad i found this great forum. i have not had chickens since i was a teenager in the 70s. at that time i had mostly bantams (golden seabrites). did some hatching with limited success. saw a news story on TV news recently about the growing backyard chicken movement in the area...
