I asked him today if it ever hatched and he said "No, it's still incubating".

I told him he needs to get rid of that thing. It's only been 3 months now!!!!

3 months? ok, time for lockdown. tell him to raise the humidity to 70% and don't open the box until they hatch. should be any day now
