We feed nutrogena layer feed. We just moved her into the shed in a cage with straw away from other chickens. I mixed up some electrolytes and put in her water and food with sunflower seeds., also dug up some worms and she's eating them but not crazy like our other chickens would. Hopefully it's...
She's one year old this month and doesn't have a comb, crop or waddle, what little she does have isn't red. I'm trying to upload a picture of her but I can't seem to figure it out
We have buff orpingtons and one seems to have lighter feathers a lot lighter than the others. She's outside but just sitting there not running around and eating . Does anyone might know the cause for this?
We have buff Orpingtons here in upstate NY temps went to -14 last night so they're pretty hardy. Also nice brown eggs some speckled! This is the only kind we've had and love them, great with kids!
We added 3 full windows to the coop also and have plenty straw for warmth too! There's two full size doors on the front and the flip door with ramp for them to go in and out
We have 22 buffs in a 8x12 shed converted into a coop. Plenty of roost space two wooden ladders going to top and 4 large feeding tubes also feed warm oatmeal at 4pm with berries and other scraps. I'm going to put in a thermometer today we're still getting 1 1/2 dozen eggs per day.
Thank you! People keep saying we have to heat coop and everything I've read says not to unless it goes into negative temperatures. Only door we leave open is the one to the run that's fully enclosed with fencing. Big doors we close and latch shut at night. Now they're starting to fight and peck...
Hi chicken peeps! Can someone please tell me at what temperature we should put heat on in coop. It's suppose to drop into the teens tonight and then negative temps tomorrow. Thanks
Thank you for the video link that's some pretty good info. It's just the run that's muddy, the inside actually has linoleum to protect wood floor then we put pine shavings down and a good thick level of straw and clean that often. Question about the wood chips...they dye those and have arsenic
Thank you so much! I think I'm going to try it on the next decent day. We also have two Newfies so that will keep them semi protected! Fingers crossed!
It is higher up and we can't move it's a shed coop set on cement blocks. There's only a fenced area around coop. I'm just wondering if they'll find their way back before dark
Hello! Our chickens are enclosed and have never free ranged them. It's a muddy mess and nothing left for them to eat except feed we give them. If I let them out in the yard will they go back to coop at night? We're going to put moveable fencing in the spring butworried about them being in coop...
Thank tou I'm trying and I know some don't make it. Just trying to help her along. She does move away while trying to give her water and she won't take the food even when I put in front of her
