What type of food are you feeding this Chick? In one of the pictures posted it appears you are feeding this chick scratch/cracked corn. Baby Chicks need crumbled medicated chicks starter. You will kill this chick with improper feed and no grit available. Please splint his leg, feed him properly...
I would have a ramp into the pool or a flat board so they can climb out. Baby ducks often get stuck in pools if their is not a ramp for them to climb out. I think this would be the same for chickens
I think he will do great if he had another duck to bond with and keep him company. A duck will help him find food and communicate with him. I couldn't hurt
What type of surgery is the Vet wanting to perform? The injury appears swollen from all the trauma but it doesn't look infected. As longs as he is eating and drinking he should be fine. The first 24 hrs after shock/injury is always touchy. You have a very cute dove
give supportive care and see what happens. You can apply neosporin without any numbing agent to keep wound clean. Is it just skin missing or is muscle exposed?
As long as she is eating and drinking I would not worry. Just make sure you keep it clean and don't allow any of the other chicks to peck at it. It should close in it's own. Have you tried super glue?
That is a Tapeworm. Even though you were able to remove some of the worm, the head is attached firmly inside the chicken and will only be killed with a strong Dewormer. I would deworm everyone.
I have been following your post and was really praying your bird would survive. I am sorry for your loss. At least you tried your best and you did right by her.
Many times a bird will rally prior to them passing.
Today I noticed several chickens eating dog poop. We have a dog that runs the backyard when the chickens free range. Is there any way to cure this disgusting habit. The chickens are fed layena crumbles, chicken scratch for treats and fresh vegetables and greens. They also get oyster shell...
take her to an avian vet so they can give her nystatin to clear up the sour crop. If not, you have to do crop surgery to get all the rotten food out of her crop. then slowly re-establish healthy bacteria into her system so it can work again
Try to take a picture and attach it to this post so the experts can see the damage to your roo. His eyes may still be there but due to the trauma and bloods you may not see them
what type of chicken did you have? Was she a Broiler Chicken? Broilers are not meant to live very long. They grow very quickly and their hearts can't handle the stain so they die of heart attacks and heart disease.
We need more info about your bird. Please answer the questions in the first sticky so we may help your bird. Some birds become paralyzed from Mareks but we need more info. Others will be on to help you if you add more info about your bird.
Let her rest. Try to keep her calm and in a dark place to stop the laying process. she needs to heal from the prolapse. Feed her soft foods like the previous poster stated and make sure she is pooping. Most objects pass easily through the chicken if it can pass through the proventriculus (sp?)...
Lights will cause them to crow. If they see head lights they will start to crow. You need to keep them in a dark chicken coop and let them out in the AM.
Keep her warm and calm. She may go into shock. I am sure some one will reply with more detailed info. Is she still bleeding?. If so maybe try to put pressure on the wound. I know animal wounds are likely to cause infection. Do you have access to Tylan or a diluted betadine solution? I would keep...
I have two Hens that are now roosting in my neighbors coop. First it was just my Hamburg hen and now her best friend a brown leghorn has followed her. I have a clean coop with plenty of roosts and a heat lamp comes on when the nights get really cold. The hens are in my yard at daybreak and they...
