I have two Ameraucana that I hatched on April 4 of this year. When should they start laying eggs? My other hatch of Barred Rocks have been laying for a few weeks and they are a month younger.
It's been six weeks since I got these fellas. I'm positive the brown duck is a Campbell. This one, I haven't been able to match up with anything as of yet. I thinking some type of Mallard but I haven't come across any with the gold color before. If anyone has an ideas it would be appreciated.
@Ghibli I was thinking the same for the brown one too. But these are the first ducks I have ever own, let alone raised, so I figured I would ask those with more experience.
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone would happen to know what breed of ducks these are? I got them last week from a friend and she had no idea what they were.
Hatched my first batch of eggs this week. I set 12 Ameraucana that I had shipped in from N.H. and 6 from my mixed flock. So far I have 10 out of the 18 that have hatched.

Morning everyone,
Just ordered some Ameraucana eggs this week. Going to try them for my first hatch. Been working on plans for a larger coop. Thinking an 8x6 should give me the room for all the chickens I have and want for a few more years anyways. Darn chicken math..
@Sally Sunshineit's all plastic, has a 12 egg auto turner with built in hydrometer and thermostat.I ran it for a day to check temp swings. Stayed with in a degree of the set point.
50 Watts @ 12 VDC should give you around 4A (ideal) to the battery. So a basic trickle charge. As long as the converter, pump, lights and heater don't draw more then the storage and charge rate you should be good.
Does anyone have any experience with Amdirect Incubators, are they any good? I've seen decent reviews on Amazon. Just looking for a cheaper one to try and hatch eggs for the first time.
Chicken math is right, go bigger then you think you currently need. I went with the "Bella" 4x4 design from mypetchicken.com and am wishing now that I would have gone larger.
Since I plan on increasing my flock size this spring with 2 EE if I can source any local. Oh well, guess I make another...
