I'm happy to share that my little chick is doing much better! I removed the splint and started vitamin B in the water, as suggested. You can barely tell that this chick couldn't stand. He's now running, and starting to chest bump my hand in the brooder 🙄. Thank you all for your wonderful...
My broody hatched some chicks 5 days ago. One was in a weird position and had to be helped out of the shell. It never stood after hatching, even several hours later when mama took the other chicks for food, she got left behind in the nest scooting around on her belly. I've had the chick in my...
I just thought it was so strange that the other chicks of this breed that I've had hatch, 6 so far, all look so similar and this little one is SO different. Even the beak is a different color.
I had this little cutie hatch out of a Lavender Ameracauna egg today. The other hatchlings are what I was expecting, but this little one is mostly yellow with some faint lavender markings. I did some quick research and thought maybe she has some genetic variant, like recessive white? I'm far...
I have a mixed breed pullet, a Calico, who's about 4 months old if I remember correctly. The last few days her face has been getting redder and redder. I know this can be a sign of maturing and hopefully it's just that. What do think? My Wyandotte mix pullets are over 6 months and just started...
Nope, i triple checked. She's never laid anywhere but her nest box as far as I know. I check the yard for eggs in case she does. Tomorrow I'll keep her in the coop so she can't sneak an egg off somewhere.
I forgot to post that. She has layer feed and oyster shell always available. She gets scratch grains and meal worms for treats, she mostly free ranges grass and bugs. This morning she just didn't want you get out of the coop. She also hasn't laid in a few days, I think 3. But her shells are...
I have a red sexlink hen who's just over a year old. She free ranges during the day with 3 pullets and 2 cockerels. A few weeks ago, I went out in the yard and found her sitting under a bush looking extra fluffy. I first feared she was egg bound, but she was still passing stool so I decided to...
@SueT I've only been to the one, but it seemed very well attended. They have only every year I believe. They have a website and Facebook. It's located in Corvallis. https://www.oregonpoultryswapinc.com/about
I want to thank those that commented on this thread. I received the necropsy report back today and the black bird did have Marek's disease. It's likely that she would have passed the quarantine period and infected my flock if you hadn't helped me catch on to the mishaped pupil relation...
