Oh and we were down by one egg. Safe to assume she hasn't laid yet. Not to sure. They are Miller Brown Leghorns and we usually get one egg a day from each hen.
Hello,
We recently lost a chicken due to unknown reasons. We noticed today that one of our chickens was behaving a little off. She keeps her walking limited, and her tail goes straight up and you can clearly see her vent is pulsating, like she is straining in some way. Her comb is bleeding as...
You are definitely right. This one is still a success for sure (especially compared to the last one, at least I got some chicks this time). It is all a learning experience. I have done 1 eggtopsy before, and the last time my humidity was too high prior to lockdown, so this time I kept it lower...
I have a sinking feeling I won't be getting any more chicks. I don't see any movement and my chicks are almost dry. I know it is only Day 21 but I have a gut feeling. 7 eggs are still left, most of them were moving last night. I was really surprised this morning this one egg hasn't pipped yet...
Chirping inside the egg is a good sign. They still probably won't externally pip for a little while yet so keep being patient. I know it is hard, I just went through it, but hang in there. Keep us posted!
No, I am going to leave them in there for 24hrs, they are not quite dry yet so I will wait. If at 24 hrs they are dry and none of my other eggs have pipped yet, then I will take them out. They can last 3 days in there so I am not too worried.
I hear ya! I am on Day 21 today, and last night I had two chicks hatch. My other eggs are doing nothing, I don't know why these two come so early and the others haven't showed any signs of a pip yet but I am still happy to have hatch my first two chicks. Your humidity sounds good to me, though...
Congrats on your new little babies. I had two of my eggs hatch last night and I still have seven other eggs getting knocked around in my bator by the two chicks. This is my first hatch so it was really exciting to watch them break through the eggs. I am not sure why these two hatched so early...
Last night we watched our first chick hatch and a couple hour later the second one. These two eggs pipped yesterday on day 20. It isn't quite day 21 yet but this morning I see no new pips. Makes me worried. But I will not open the bator to check! At least not until day 22 hits. Then I will tap...
Yeah. The two that have pipped are right in the middle of the bator so I wonder if that has something to do with it. None of the others along the edge have pipped. It is a circulated bator but maybe the middle is just a little warmer? But thank you! I am super excited. They are chirping louder...
Well today is day 20. Some of the eggs are still showing some wiggling, some are not. I don't hear anything so I do not think they have pipped inside the eggs yet (I have never actually heard chirping in an egg yet...so still nervous the same thing is going to happen like last time). Humidity is...
Last time I got to lockdown I waited and waited and nothing happened. I did not have one pip, one zip, one chick out of 10 eggs. I was so sad. No internal pip either. Never heard a little peep out of my eggs. So I am SUPER paranoid about these eggs. I have no idea what I did wrong last time and...
Hi Everyone! A new update! LOCKDOWN DAY HAS BEGUN! Day 18 started today and I have removed my eggs from the turner. I have increased the humidity and my eggs are rocking just a bit. So exciting. I find myself wandering down there more often now just to watch the eggs. I have been a little...
Hi Everyone!
An update on my little chicken hatch. Today is day 10 I decided to candle. I have 13 eggs in my Farm Innovators 2200. I have been keeping a RH between 50-55%. I candled today and decided that the air sac looked a little small so I am letting the RH come down. I also discovered 4...
I say keep it in. If there are no fowl smells in the incubator, and it doesn't have fluid coming out of it, might as well wait and see around Day 14 then candle again and see if it has progressed like the others. If not, then get rid of it.
Hello everyone! I would like to join you on this little hatch along. I set my 13 eggs on Dec 31st. Today is day 6. I candled the other day cause I couldn't wait, and saw some veins. I do find it easier to wait till day 10 to candle to see what is going on. This is my 3rd batch. My first batch...
I wish you all the best in your hatching. I myself am currently on my third incubating batch. My first batch didn't work due to a 10hr power outage (freak storm) and then my second batch I made it to hatching days but none of my egg pipped. Not sure what happened. Humidity was good, temp may...
So sorry everyone. Family was up for the holidays and things got a little crazy. Unfortunately I didn't get any chicks this round. I waited until day 25, checked viability, candling, and none were moving. Candling showed no movement either. I waited some more just cause...but nope. So I am...
