Thank you. I do have one black that is growing out. (Hopefully she will be a she). I have to get rid of half my Ameruacana stock as their offspring are showing up with red leakage. So i do not want to use them with my lavender stock.
I have one Lavender Ameraucana Cock and need some females for him. The person I got the Cock from no longer sells them. Where can I find some more? I am open to hatching eggs as well.
Well I had two eggs that I knew had chicks in them but was not sure if they were going to hatch. Last night we had one hatch and is doing well with mama and the other babies. The other hens have decided to lay in mamas nest when she is outside with the babies, so I will have to pull eggs when i...
Well since I don't know how to edit my post above, I will put the correction here.
The little one that was squished that I thought was dead ended up hatching and is doing well. It is a Black Ameraucana. It is smaller than the rest of them but is able to keep up with everyone. I will be posting...
I am so eggcited for this hatch! This is the second batch that is from our own hens and roosters. I am hoping for some lavenders to make it to add to our lavender pen.
My BBS and Lavendar Ameraucana's hatched yesterday! I am so excited. My Buff Orpington (sp) wanted to be a mamma and I needed chicks for a Father's Day event this weekend so it was perfect timing. I did let her hatch out 2 of her eggs. They are so cute! I will be keeping a couple for her to raise.
We have 11 hatched so far! one hatched half way then looks like it got stepped on and didn't make it. There are still some eggs that need to hatch. I will be candling them tonight to see if they are good. There might be a couple that will need to go in to the incubator as they do not have a...
We are on day six of my Buff Orpington sitting on eggs. We can't wait for them to hatch!! I am hoping that some of her eggs will hatch they will be olive eggers. As our rooster is a blue ameraucana.
Our little ones are growing out nicely! We also have a broody sitting on 20 eggs that will hatch on June 16th. We will be keeping some for our breeding program and selling the rest at the 4-H father's day lunch fundraiser.
I am so glad to have this thread back!! Over the weekend I hatched out my fertility and hatch rate tests eggs. Fertility is great but the incubator is a cheap one. We will be upgrading to a better one after the Turkeys are sold at fair in October.
We hatched out 1 EE and 5 Olive Egger, and 5...

am in Day 9 and tossed out 10 eggs tonight. Most we clears but some were blood rings and one had a floating air cell (not shipped, from my own birds). So I am down to 27 in the incubator.

So candled the eggs. And we have 22 viable of the 37. So a 60% rate right now. Need go up the humidity to 40. On Tuesday will recandle to check air cells again.
Has anyone crossed a Blue Ameraucana Cockerel with an Easter Egger Hen?
I did and her is what I got. A black chick with a brown head spot and yellow chest and tummy.
Is the dot on the head a indicator of a male?
