Good afternoon, I went to let my girls out this morning and one of my original girls - around 6 years old - was in the floor of the coop. She was alive, but could not stand or walk. I immediately picked her up and her neck flailed backwards and then downwards. I brought her inside, immediately...
I sooo cracked up on that one!! But seriously - hahah - my girls crop is dangling and wobbling. I think it is stretched out due to the sour crop ordeal. The sour crop is cured, but it’s still dangling. Did you cure this by massaging the crop?
Hey there! Is this crop bra still available? I would love to have it, if so! I have a girl whose crop is stretched out and does not empty properly. Just let me know! Thank you!
Thank you so much. She was really a very sweet girl. I will miss her so much. I learn a little more each time something happens to one or more of my girls. This incident was a HUGE lesson! My hardware cloth and other materials should be delivered today and we will start fortifying the pen and...
I’m so doing this, too!! I would love nothing more than to freak out the varmints that took my chickens! Do you do secure fencing in addition to the electric wiring?
Yes...i Love my girls as much as my dogs and cats! Having them in our lives Is so rewarding, and so hard when they’re not around any longer. I have ordered new hardware cloth, stakes, and chicken wire. It’s going to be like Fort Knox up in here! :) Definitely going to check out the Predators...
...and i also force fed water this morning. :/
Her crop could have been affected. I’m just not sure. She did have some rattling, but not consistent. Her crop was not full. I’m thinking the raccoon injured a lung and/or punctured something in that area that she couldn’t recover from. She died...
Thank you so much. It really is so heartbreaking! Ugh! I guess we learn a little more and more along this chicken journey thanks to helpful folks like you guys. Thanks again.
But to answer your question, for further understanding, the attack happened Thursday night (it is now Sunday). She would not eat or drink all day Friday. I force fed her water and food Friday night and Saturday morning. These breathing issues were not present until this morning.
