Does anyone have pictures they could post of their Cinnamon Queens?? I tried to google it, but not much came up. Also, does anyone know if they are as good of layers as the Golden Comets? I am interested in replacing my flock with some red sex links and wondered what everyones opinions are on...
Joyce,
I will honestly say that I am not sure what is killing your bantam chicks, but i think i know what is killing you quail chicks. I raised many quail and when I first started out I was losing 50% of my hatches to the same thing you are experiencing. Purple legs, limping, etc. I...
I had this same exact question on this forum... I was wondering how exactly do you use the Ivermectin pour-on since its not labeled for the use on chickens? I am going to buy some and worm mine in the spring, but im not sure how much to use or how to use it??? Sorry if this seems like a dumb...
I have 15 chickens which are all about 4.5 months to 1 year of age. I have never wormed them, and they are showing no signs of having worms. My question is.....Is it a good idea to go ahead and worm them??? I bought some Wazine at the feed store the other day just in case. It says to use it...
I had the same problem with one of my chicks on my last hatch. Someone on here told me to mix molasses in their water. This is supposedly a natural laxitive for poultry. You may try this, it worked for me. Also, i would continue washing their vent with warm water.
What kind of thermostat is it??? I put a hot water heater thermostat in my homemade incubator. If this is what you are using, this may help........

I agree with the last post. I hatch bobwhite quail and have switched to dry incubation, which means adding no water until day 18. This made a world of difference for me on my hatch rates. I would probably start there if I were you.
Thank you all very much for your replies. I will definitely try the molasses in water if it happens after my next hatch. I believe that the constipation is what killed the little guy. I wish i would have known this sooner. Thanks again!
I have heard others on here mention "pasty butt" and was wondering if there is a cure for this. I lost one of my rhode island red chicks this last hatch from this because i didnt know what to do for it. It seemed to stay really moist and pasty around the butt area and almost seemed like it was...
I raise bobwhite quail, and they can become stressed very easily when they are young because they are so fragile. I would just make sure he's getting enough water and thats about all you can do. some pull through, some dont. Also, watch the rest of quail and make sure they arent getting...
Ive heard that it is harmless. I was looking it up yesterday actually. My girlfriend is a teacher and she is going to try it in her classroom.

I have the same problem with my homemade incubator. I used a hotwater thermostat and had some pretty high temp swings 10-12 deg. Let us know how your modification works out. I will try it myself!
