This is a 6 month old frizzle Cochin bantam. He got into a fight with one of the flock mates and as a result this happened. I think his eyelid was torn and is now just flappy and rubs on his eye. This just happened today. I don't know if I should trim it off since I'm assuming it'll never...
I inspected her a bit more. She is not putting weight on it at all, has it straight out to the side, and will not bend her "knee" on her own. Toes are very straight. I did look and feel all over her leg and hip area and there is no swelling. The knee will still bend if I bend it, and the hip...
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
⚫7 week old light brahma
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
⚫One leg sticking out to the side. Straight out, no bending at the joint. One day fine, next day, limping and not putting weight on...
I attempted to drain her belly, while I did get a puddle, I decided that it would be more humane to just put her down knowing that her health would continue to deteriorate. :(
She was a 3 yr old ISA brown. She has given us many many eggs. <3
Last night rooster had his first oral drench of corid, and water is medicated. Should I be doing a preventative dosage in the water for the main flock? He was waking around surely pooping in an area they will come in contact with eventually. Or are they immune? They are about 3 years old and...
Skip to the end portion. This shows the head shaking thing he has been doing before the frost bite.
This shows his pooping issues. He's acting like he's constipated but poop doesn't look dry.
And pic shows a poo from today. I'll pick up some corrosion ASAP. Thank you so much for your advice.
Rooster still is sleepy. I just saw him poop this and he seemed to be in pain and was straining to pass this. He was chirping like in pain when straining. Any ideas what this poo could indicate? Looks like there's some watery blood?
He seems to be making steady but slow progress. He is looking more alert, (still "sleepy" allot though). He is eating more and drinking more. Still not enough for a chicken but progress. His eye that was shut is opening. I checked his bum that was crawling with mites yesterday and they are...
Yeah I feel terrible. He purks up for a bit then goes right back to sitting with his eyes closed. But he is more alert then yesterday, and is eating a bit more. We will see. Hope the damn mites don't infest my house. He's in the bathroom. I replaced his hay and box, and spayed him and his box...
Here are some pics. He seems to be making progress and is eating a tiny bit. Turns out he is loaded with mites. I have elector PSP on hand so will deal with that promptly. His eye is also shut. I think his eye lid got pecked. But before isolation his eye was opened, so I think his actual eye...
To my suprise, the rooster opened his eyes long enough to drink some water, then closed his eyes again.(with me holding it right in front of his face) But he did do this multiple times and drank quite a bit. He doesn't seem to be interested in eating. Hoping he makes it through the night and we...
Just wanted to add that his poo is white. Like sheet rock mud same consistency I would say. Just a small amount. His comb and wattles are turning black.
Update-rooster is most likely dying. Need not eating at. He is puffed up with eyes closed and falls over when standing. Surely something else is going on besides pecking? Any ideas?
