Thank you for such a long reply! This is very helpful.
He did have a boinking incident! He had a little hole in his head after we transferred him to an outdoor coup during the day. A large bird came down and must have spooked them. I regret forgetting to insulate the top of their outdoor cage...
Yes, I supplement their diet with oyster shell. I just mix it in with their food. Is this okay? Should I have a separate bowl?
There are currently 6 in the cage and they seem to be getting along well. It's a large cage and the female to male ratio was pretty large.
Hello!
I hatched around 9 button quails a few months ago (Mid February).
Around two months ago, they started laying eggs, including the two quails I am about to talk about.
About a month and a half ago, we had a problem. One of the quails ended up being sick. She had her feathers puffed up and...
Hello.
I'm hatching button quails. Around 9 hatched 3-4 days ago but I decided to let the rest of the eggs who didn't make it rest in the incubator.
I check today - day 20 (theyre supposed to hatch day 16) - and I hear one of the eggs peeping. I check back 4 hours later, and the chick is still...
Hello!
I'm currently waiting for button quails to hatch.
13 seemed viable at the last candling. This morning, one chick hatched. 3 Other eggs had visible pips. I took the advice of many and decided not to remove the chick from the incubator. However, the little guy is wild - an expert soccer...
Hello
I just assisted an eg to hatch because it got stuck durring zipping for 24 hours. The chick came out completely dry with a little yolks sack with nothing in it. It's feathers are rock hard like dried glue. It's was born 1 hour ago. What should I do? Wait... Wash it? Btw I think it is the...
I raised humidity to 62%!!! Chick is still alive inside the egg, but has not come out! Still active though. At 3pm today, I will assist it for it has been 24 hours.
Hello!
Two of my eggs pipped today on day 23 (I know very late). The humidity is super low, 49% because I have no clue how to raise it. 1 of the eggs has been struggling for 6 hours in the same position. And when i say struggling i mean struggling. It has been peeping loudly, throwing its beak...
One of my 5 eggs just hatched on day 22 (today). It peeped all day, then pecked, and then pecked the circumference of the egg (1/2 of it) but then died. The entire time there was yellow liquid bubbling out (not a lot though) and the shell would break but the inside clear shell wouldn't. Well it...
One egg is peeping and shaking ferociously! Have I stricken gold, or can under-developed chicks chirp and move anyways.
One other egg is shaking, and candling on day 22 all show a distorted air sack (meaning they have torn through it?).

By "active and alive" did you mean they were moving...
Hello!
I am hatching chicken eggs in a Little Giant Still air incubator at a constant 99.5˚ (I know its low).
Today is the expected hatch day (Day 21, 100% positive it is day 21). I decided to candle my eggs and I was surprised. All of the chicks (5) seem tiny! There is a yellow see-through...
100 % positive it is day 21. The eggs are rocking back and fourth (2 out of five) but they all seem very tiny.
Here is a picture of the candling. Note the yellow is not the air sack, that is at the top of the egg (large end), but the light doesn't capture it.
What you are seeing is the small...
Oh.. i get what you though I said. By 1/4 of the egg, I am referring to how much of an egg is filled with the clear see through substance. I have 5 eggs and all 5 of them have this weird substance. One of the five has the mass and red veins as depicted in the second pic, but also the clear liquid.
I know its not okay to take the egg out of lockdown, but i was very curious. I saw online that the chick at this stage should be completely filling the entire egg. However, 1/4 of the egg (from the small end), light passes through as it were egg white. I am concerned for candling on day 18...
Hi I sent you some picture, but they need to be approved, do you know how long that takes? They are pics of the candling. What should i do if they seem just right (the air bubble)? Thank you!
Thank you, I just candled them, but I'm not too sure if their too small or just right. What do you think?
I think they look too small:

Hello!
I'm using a Little Giant still air incubator with the egg turner. It is now day 18 and I'm concerned for the wellbeing of my chicks. Please tell me if if it is likely my eggs with not hatch.
-I candled the eggs 5 out of the 21 days (all healthy moving embryos)
-I'm using fertile chicken...
