    Help Please - Sick Goose

Lucy is still doing well. She is getting stronger every day. I sat her in the yard with me Sunday while I worked on the chicken(goose) tractor and let her visit with her buddies. She still has a few more days of antibiotics, but she is eating everything I give her.

    Help Please - Sick Goose

She is doing great! Everything seems to be working. She is bathing herself and starting to stand up and flap her wings during bath time. She is definitely leaving me quite a bit to clean up every day with all the splashing, but just seeing her getting healthy again makes it all worth it!!

    Raising Geese 101

Does anyone know if all of the "true" African Geese have that double chin thing going on? I have 3 siblings - one has dark markings and a huge knob on his head like the African but - no double chin, a White Chinese male, and what looks like a Brown Chinese female with some splashes of white in...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

I'm am extremely glad she is getting better too! I am looking for chicken tractor plans now so I can move her around the yard and not have to worry about anything picking on her or attacking her.

    Help Please - Sick Goose

She is definitely getting more energy! She is keeping her eyes open longer, when I go to pick her up to feed her she is standing (with my support) for longer periods of time whereas before she stayed sitting down, and she has started eating the chick starter that I left with her until I can get...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

I actually put one towel on the floor, sit Lucy on that towel, then I simply lay another one on top of her so she feels the weight of something so she "thinks" she is wrapped up. Then I sit on the floor, lay my right leg down flat on the floor in front of her chest, and put my left leg over her...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

The vet said that she couldn't find anything wrong other than the fact that she was underweight from not eating. She said to try the antibiotics and the tube feeding and if she wasn't better in a couple days to come back and they would do a blood test ($140) and see if they could come up with...

FYI - I also read that the eye mucus is a symptom of being severely malnourished... Which she definitely is :-(

    Help Please - Sick Goose

I had to take off today so I could take my mom to a doctor appointment. I took the opportunity to scope out the area and found a vet to take a look at her. $280 later, no answers as to what the issue is but they gave me Baytril (antibiotic), Hills urgent care a/d canned dog/cat food, and Ox...

Miss Lydia: I have 3 mini Dachshunds too! And a 106 (supposed) bulldog mix rescue, and a 2.5 pound Yorkie. 4 horses, a 95 gallon full of fish, a yellow slider turtle, and I'm feeding approximately 10 feral cats outside that keep the mouse population under control around my coop.

    Help Please - Sick Goose

What is the likelihood of her being the only one showing signs of gape worms? I have 3 other geese, 10 ducks, 12 guineas, and 6 chickens. A couple of my female ducks have seizures every once in a while, but their mother did too so I didn't kmow if it was genetic? The only thing that I've ever...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

I'm sorry I never mentioned it... Her name is Lucy... Lucy-goosey :) She seems to have a little thicker poo with some white in it this morning. She has been in the same spot all night, she keeps shaking her head, and her tail is pointed down a little this morning.

PLEASE HELP -- sick African/Chinese mix

She has had the loose green poo since Wednesday. I read that buttermilk and unsweetened yogurt were good for chickens, but I didn't have either of those on hand. The almond milk has no GMOs, added sugars, or lactose... So it's pretty much almond flavored water. She wouldn't eat anything, but...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

I fill the tub with very warm water and make sure I get her out the moment it's not warm anymore, then I sit her on a dry towel and put all of her food and water around her. I did read the emergency post and watched several how-to videos on Facebook. I made her a very nutritious smoothie... And...

    Help Please - Sick Goose

No emergency vets near me. I left a message on the answering machine at my regular vet just to see if there was anything they would be willing to help me out with (testing the poop, etc).
