A homeschool family found this chicken and needed to rehome it. I took it in and am completely baffled on gender or breed. It can fly. My son thinks is a hen, based on color and the sound it makes.
My husband thinks it’s a roo, because it has a spur.
It can fly. It flies to our roof.
My husband found a dead chicken and chicks that were run over by a car … plus these six guys. He didn’t take a picture of the dead hen for me to identify, so any guesses on what these guys are?
I am selling our flock. But my Silkies are my babies - I know the people that are on this board will give them a good home. Three silkies - two nonbearded (partridge and black) and one bearded (paint/splash) and a rooster show girl splash/paint.
I live in Riverview, FL - Tampa Bay.
Anyone?
This chicken was sold as a Jersey giant when it was a chick. I call "fowl" on that. Lol. The woman had a variety in a bin - we bought EEs, Silkies, Showgirls, and Jersey Giants. This is none of those. What do I have? She (right?) is 5 months old. No crowing.
And what is this girl? She's a mix...
I put my 1 year old rooster on craigslist. He is perfect for free ranging hens - superb guard rooster. we just have too many roosters though for our hens. I chose him to sell first, I don't want to sell the others yet. But every person who has expressed interest (3) all want more than one...
We received this rooster a few months ago. Love him to pieces. They told me Ameraucana mix, but not sure of accuracy. Does he look like anything in particular? He had a prettier tail, but a neighbors dog attacked my flock and pulled out his tail. It's growing back though nicely!
I don't know how many people saw my post 21 days ago. A neighbors dog got in my Silkie pen and killed all but one hen. So I ordered an incubator off Amazon, grabbed my fridge eggs (Silkie eggs I had planned on eating) and asked if they were fertile based on one I cracked. Well .... here you go...
My Pekin girl loves her pool, but yesterday she was just stretched out floating in it, going in lazy circles. I thought it was cute. The Muscovy had no idea what she was up to.
The pictures don't do it justice. She's not swimming - just floating. Is this common Pekin behavior? She is 3...
We have Welsummers and EEs in a mega run/coop that is completely covered on every side and the top is covered plus their coop attached. They get sealed in at night to protect from predators. Our ducks are free range all day and then get locked in a separate coop/box at night in that same...
I was told by a vet she was a girl. But ... I'm not sure. She does that heavy breathing noise a lot during the day. She puffs out her chin as she talks. She trills at night though. She is EXTREMELY affectionate with me, following me around like a dog and wanting to be handled. She mounts our...
Hi! Long time stalker, new time member. My husband and I moved to a new house recently that allowed us to have chickens, so we built a coop and got started. We currently have six 3 month old EEs (I think they are all pullets. He went to the store and bought them without asking !!! So pure luck...
