I got my first blue Ameraucana egg today. A little on the small side, but, hopefully it will get bigger. Now that my Black Copper Maran started laying last Saturday, I got 3 out of 6 with 2 molting and 1 to lay her first any day now (another Ameraucana).
I've placed 3 orders from MM. The first order of 3 pullets came with no problems. The second order of 1 BO came but it was only 10-12 weeks old, not the pullet I had paid for. The third order was just canceled due to my pullet dying. This is the last time I will deal with MM. 2 out of 3 orders...
I've made 2 different orders from Murray McMurray...so far, with a 3rd pending. My first order, I ordered 3 pullets (Black Australorp, Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red) in early December and they arrived at the PO with no problems. Once I got them home, it said on the outside of the box they were...
3 out of 3 yesterday and 3 out of 3 today. I introduced my Buff Orpington pullet to the flock this morning (after 4 weeks in their cage, separated) and it went as well as could be expected. A little pecking and a lot of running, but no blood shed. Let's just say its a work in progress.
I've been raising 3 hens for about 4 months (and a 4th for a month)...good to know there are other like minded people around. I have a Black Australorp, a Rhode Island Red, a Barred Rock and a Buff Orpington. BYC's in Donelson....who would have guessed.
Thank you, Gander. I thought it would be a good idea to try to keep up with the amount each hen laid. This way, I can decide if I want to stick with one or two breeds or too keep a variety with the 3-4 I currently have. (Black Australorp, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock and a soon to be laying...
3 for 3 again today. 1 dark brown, 2 light brown. That makes 41 for Shadow since 2-26, 32 for Lucy since 3-5 and 23 for Roxy since 3-14. Keep 'em coming, girls.
Hi everyone, next weekend, I'm going to add a Buff pullet into my flock (she's been in their pen, in a separate cage for 3 weeks now.) I have 3 existing hens who are all laying and eat layer feed. Now, I know you shouldn't give a pullet layer feed, so, my question is, can I switch my flock back...
