Found what I’m pretty sure is young pullet, trying to figure out breed

@nuthatched turns out you were right, almost positive it is a melanistic ring necked pheasant hen. Which I don’t have experience raising or extra time for, so will probably be given away to a better home / rescue @LadiesAndJane Aw super cute baby, love it

Found what I’m pretty sure is young pullet, trying to figure out breed

My brother and his friend found this young bird in the street (did not appear to be injured or limping, it ran from them very quickly) and asked me to identify if it was a hawk or chicken. I’m positive it is not a hawk and is a chicken (or at least some domestic poultry as it was fairly calm in...

Hen with super shredded backside, seems ok but not sure

My 3 yr old hen charlie was recently beaten up by a group of pullets and had her backside almost completely skinned. We put "new-skin" on her back, it serves as a liquid bandage and scab. She has been isolated and given food and water and blankets. Breathing is normal, and she is stable on her...

What are your five favorite breeds and why

    1. Silkie bantam--silkies are sweet as can be, fluffier than a bag of cotton, and just so adorable! 2. Brahma bantam--they're quiet and calm, and also quite lovely 3. Delawares-- so much personality! They're really curious and love to explore. 4. Naked Necks--they look alien, and each one has a...

5 week old Mottled Cochin Bantam--This is a Roo, Right?

I'm sorry you can't keep him!! Maybe reconsider the no-crow collar? I have experienced the no-crow and it's much better than it looks, they don't like it for a few days but it doesn't hurt them at all. But it's up to you and I know everybody's birds are different. Hopefully he gets a good home...

Could they of gave me the wrong breed (s)... updated!

The lack of markings and yellow color are not Delaware traits. Sorry, but you definitely don't have Delawares. For reference, Delawares are white with black spots down their backs and necks.

Could they of gave me the wrong breed (s)... updated!

They do not look like Delawares. Do they have any spots, stripes or speckles down their backs? I am leaning towards the Cornish diagnosis.

    "Sizzling" Chick?

Update: I think it was just bowel sounds. She's fine and the sound went away.

    "Sizzling" Chick?

One of my month-old Turkens has developed an odd symptom. When she moves around a lot or is touched on her abdomen, her abdomen makes a sound like pop rocks, a fire, or like I said, a sizzling chicken. The sounds lasts for a couple of seconds or sometimes up to a minute. I have had a chick with...

    What Breeds are These Chicks?

I have a couple theories. She could have gotten cold or wet in the rain, or starved because the others pushed her away. But I don't know for sure.
