I have a 4 year old brown chinese goose who may have hurt his bill. He seems ok personality wise and is eating but don't want to get it infected.
Ok little problem. My one gander Mr Roper has a bill issue. It may be that he has scrapped it on chicken wire trying to get a muscovy drake. Problem...
Ok little problem. My one gander Mr Roper has a bill issue. It may be that he has scrapped it on chicken wire trying to get a muscovy drake. Problem is I'm not sure if it's getting infected. Any suggestion on what I can use on it?
We have a couple but I hate to loose a season waiting for him to mature.
The frustrating part is I borrowed a stall to bond my female to the new male. (Separated her from the small flock). The original female Tatter is a lovely fine featured little girl that is very aggressive when it comes to...
Ok the egg laying confirms my suspicion the male I bought (and was concerned it was a female) started laying eggs.
Does anyone know of a breader of brown Chinese in Ontario I really need a good male.
Hi all. Here just north of Port Hope Ontario. We are or have been hatching brown chinese geese. It's been a weird year I was not expecting goslings heading in to winter but there here.
My goal is two fold one to use the geese as weeders in our veg fields and to become a breeder of these lovely...
Little up date. Looks like new goose is a male voice starting to break (not sure if right term). On the hatching front thing have not been great but at this point we have 7 live births. All at various ages the first 2 that are about 4 weeks old have been moved to the barn in the "play pen" to...
Thanks. This is the first time I've tr hatching. So glad I found thread. Have adjusted the humidity have to wait and see. Didn't weight them when hatched but going to try to get better prepared for spring.
Hi having some problems incubating/hatching chinese goose eggs. Fertilization seems good when candling after 8 days all eggs seem good. Had 3 live births 1 with help 4 die when piping and 6 not make it to the piping.
What I've noticed is that there is a lot of fluid in the egg when they pip...
I'm up in Ontario Canada and my geese have been laying for the last month and a half and still going. Trying to incubate the eggs but hatch rate had been bad. Here is a shot of the first 2
1/2 acer pond is pretty big. When we had a small pond 100 ft x 110 ft (roughly) so this might not work for you. we use rope and Ribben. The ribbon is tied every 12 inches or so along the rope then we would walk on either side of the pond trying to keep the rope about 6 - 12 inches above the...
Ok so haven't had much luck with hatching. Have gotten 2 of 9 eggs to hatch 1 didn't make it after breaking through the shell. Most recent is struggling to get out and getting week. When candling seem to all be fertilizer and at early stages seeing veins etc in shell. Air space gets larger but...
Ok maybe a silly question but I'm up in ontario Canada and my 2 chiniese girls are laying. Was really unexpected here the problem if I were to let them sit they'd loose weight right before the cold weather starts. So we're incubating the eggs. If they hatch how big should the goslings be before...
Two of the females - Tatter and Joanie are 1 and a half the third female Frida is 4 I think and the the male Mr Roper is 3. They spent the winter in the greenhouse with me could have use ear plugs at times but it's was a great winter getting to know them a and watching there society.
Ok quick question I have 4 brown chinese geese (3 goose 1 gander). The three girls are all using the same nest to lay. There is about 18 eggs in it now but not one of them seems to want to sit is there anything I can do to encourage them? Here is the gang/gagle
