14 weeker, the smallest hopeful hen we have....just noticed this swelling. Only chicken to have it, she's having no issues walking, running, or flying, eating and drinking normal....
What do you think? I'd assume vitamin B would show through all of them.
So I've seen all the charts but I can't figure it. I have 15 14 weekers....most are having the same thing. Older birds are fine. My initial guess is just the heat and too much water. The younger ones are drinking a ton. I also switches feed twice recently.
Treating for a prolapsed vent. Has the bulge sticking out and she wouldnt roost anymore. Seperated her, warm baths every day, and electrolytes. The bulge seems to be staying in but she has straight liquid poop, yellowish and nasty. pooped all over me a couple times while moving her. Anyway...
Hello everyone! I'm in Frederick (Woodsboro) and I have some 6 week old chicks and some 3 week olds. I'm looking to sell but can't find any sites to sell them on besides Craigslist. Any ideas? I know FB has a WEstern MD barnyard site but most peopel on there are from FAR western MD
how big are the piles? I mean I know if you say one handful that your hand and my hand are likely different sizes but I'm just trying to get a starting point. Ironically, I put them into 3 piles today too, with 2 handfuls on each pile
Good morning! This is a random question but I bought crumbles instead of pellets this go round accidently....so I'm wondering does anyone just throw handfuls of food out? If so, how many?
I know its weird but I have a feeder that I made out of a 5 gallon bucket. At the bottom, I have a eye bolt...
HEllo! I have a handful of 6 week olds that will soon join my 1-2 year old flock. I'm wondering how to feed them once they join the flock. I was always told not to let them have layer feed until much later
I only have a heat lamp that I've been raising to higher levels. No electric in the coop. Lows here are in the upper 30's tonight and tomorrow and low 40's Wednesday night...then after that we are in the 50's and 60's as lows for the next week at least.
I read after 6 weeks to take off heat. My basement , where they are, is in the mid to low 60's. We've had a cold spurt in MD, down to freezing a few nights and tomorrow night should be the same....then should warm up.
Should I take them off heat now?
I guess I didnt realize how close in size the 6-8 week olds are to adults. That really stinks because I just made the whole setup this morning minus the door
I have some new chicks (5 weeks now) that will in a few weeks, join the rest of the group. I had a raised coop with an area underneath and a run. I've decided I want to make a 2nd coop underneath the 1st coop, with a door of some sort for the youngings to come out and take a look around and if...
Has anyone had any luck sexing by down color/head color?
I have some Americauna/Leghorn mixes, some olive eggers, Americaunas, and other barnyard mixes.
I see heads distinctly white and others black. I have 16 chicks and can only keep 5....I'm trying to figure out which 5 and when to sell the...
Is anyone good at hens vs roo? If I posted pics would anyone be interested? I have some 3 day olds and I have some 4 week olds.

Hello everyone!
I have a 2 day old chick that I just noticed has bitten its own leg hair off, thigh down. He doesnt seemed to be getting picked on from what I see but every once in a while when he pecks at it, someone else will peck at his leg too....he's walking fine and just saw him eating...
