I have been watching my favorite pullet and I am starting to think she's a he! 😭 This little one is approximately 6 weeks old. What do you think? She/he is such a sweet and gentle chick but I can't have roosters where I'm living. Thank you in advance for your help!
There is a feed store near me that will allow people to buy three chicks or more which is a little more manageable than six, but I think it would be nice to find a place without a minimum.
My Welsummer started laying in late November. She layed a handful of eggs and then stopped once winter weather hit. It is about mid-march now and i have yet to see anything from her. My other chickens layed through the winter and are still going strong, but my Wellie seems to be taking her sweet...
I have three that fit comfortably now, but there will be 2-3 more joining the flock so I definitely need more space. The back of the coop is the door to the nesting boxes. I would probably do something with the front of the coop and maybe raise it up.
I am looking to expand my cheesey, store bought chicken coop. Have any of you done this, and if so would you kindly share your ideas and pics of your coop? :)
Thank you for your fresh perspective! My yard is almost 11,000 sq. ft. There is A LOT of room. Even in the run itself there is a lot of room. I am just concerned about introducing them and having them roost together with the older girls. I have never integrated new birds. The coop will...
The coop is much bigger than it looks. The birds only roost and lay in it. The rest of the day they are out roaming the yard (the yard is huge and full of grass, plants, and bugs. The yard isn't pictured). If they stayed in it all day then that would be a much different story. :) Also, that coop...
Good evening all!
I am wondering if any of you have an easy, temporary chicken coop idea you'd like to share. I am going to be moving a couple of pullets near my exsisting flock (of 3...lol) so they can get used to one another before I attempt to integrate them. Everyone says to place the...
Good morning!
Any of you ever find this in your eggs when you crack them open? My Welsummer is the only chicken who will occasionally have this in her eggs.
Thank all of your very much for the advice. I ended up returning it and buying my normal bag of grit (that was much smaller and almost just as expensive :'( lol). Thank u again!
I went and bought a bag of grit for my girls today and the feed store recommended a 50 lb bag of pigeon grit to save money. They said that it was fine to use it for my chickens. Have you tried it, and has it worked for you? It is smaller than the grit I normally use and has oyster shell mixed...
