I lost net for a few days but I return with fantastic news! My duck made it. I didn't end up putting lanolin on her but instead just let it heal up and fall of on its own and it did!!!!! You can't even tell now that she had a un absorbed yolk. I'm so happy and grateful for the support I found...
I'll take a picture once she's up and about She just fell back asleep while I was getting my camera lol. I say she...but I'm sure you know I have no idea if she's a he or not. Her little aac is definitely drying out tho not sure I can rehydrate it back to where she could absorb anymore. It's...
Thank you! The ducky is a trooper! I'm starting to think she's going to make it. I don't have an incubator... This duck came from her mama out side in her nest and hatched on her own I probably should have clarified that in this post. I have her on a damp cloth but her sac from the yolk is still...
Mine would move her nest this last month about 6 inches a week o.o and each time she'd discard a couple of eggs.... she was a first time nester and is a super clumsy duck so i just thought that was her own personality.....lolll now i'm not so sure...
thank you. I've had ducks for a few years, just never been through anything like this. :( its killing me. lol Mother natures really giving me a lesson, idk what the lesson is yet....but i better learn something great out of this!
i have her in one and she literally keeps trying to crawl up and out of it, she can't but just over and over and over which is making me feel like shes trying to crawl away from the pain on her abdomen....
My duck was born last night at around 1:30 am.... she has an unabsorbed yolk. I've been holding her all day today...she slept most of the day hasn't eaten or drank. The last hour tho she popped her little sack...and since then she keeps acting like shes trying to crawl away from it...I think she...
Going through this now as well..... her sac has popped 14 hours after she was hatched, now i'm waiting to see how it will dry out and if shes going to make it. <3
After you said that, i started looking through this forum and came to that conclusion as well. this is probably why mama rejected it, i really think she knew... I should have not interfered and let nature take its course... but since i did, I'm just going to keep him/her resting peacefully and...
Theres still a couple egg shell pieces on him as i've just been letting him/her sleep since the hatch early this morning....any thoughts on what this is?
There is a large... placenta looking like thing attached to his belly that I've never noticed on other ducks before. I've never hatched them on my own tho either, the mama ducks always do it, and i leave them to their own and give her space for a couple of days.... I'm really unsure what it...
THANK YOU! As you can see i posted this late last night, and haven't looked back until now. I ended up keeping it indoors and holding it in a wet cloth for a couple of hours.... Then he hatched mostly on his own, although i did help chip away at just a couple of pieces of the shell, leaving the...
and if they're anything like mine... the male ducks are brutal when it comes to mating...lol. For the pond, make sure there is a way to drain it easy or filter it out, ducks poop A LOT. My pond has to have ongoing maintenance.
Evening! I come to this group tonight in search of some help with an egg I have here that is hatching. My duck who lives outside in a coop and outdoors at her leisure during the day, but at night i bring her into the coop for protection from predators, has been nesting the last month. 4 days ago...
