With my chickens I use a couple of 10'x10'x6' chain link dog runs. I have used these for 3-4 years with no problems. I will be buying a couple more to put together breeding pens for my more "upscale" chickens this spring. While it may not be super budget friendly, I find the ability to easily...
I had some coyotes come on my property between 10:30 am and noon and killed all but one of my guineas.. Will the lone survivor be okay(long term) with chickens or do I need to find a home with other guineas? I just want to do what is best for her. TIA
I ended up with 11 baby chicks out of 18 eggs... not sure why the hatch rate sucked so bad as they were local pickup(1 non fertile, 2 quit about 10 days and two died after lockdown); but I am happy with the 11 very active babies. Good luck to those who still have eggs yet to hatch.
I have one chick in its air cell so I have officially gone into lockdown about an hour ago. Thirteen of the eighteen original eggs have made it this far.
I am down to thirteen of the eighteen originally set. One never developed, two developed blood rings around day 8, and the last two I lost sometime this week.. I am planning on doing an eggtopsy on the two in the morning. I was really hoping for better results as these eggs were picked up...
Never EVER send payment on PayPal using friends and family... if you do and something goes wrong, you are out of luck.. I have been burnt one to many times on ebay and will only buy chicks from a hatchery or from someone on here.
If a hen lays a certain color egg will her female offspring lay the same color egg; or different color? I am asking because I bought some Easter Egger eggs and one color of egg that I really like are not developing.. so I was wondering if the other eggs may produce this color egg? TIA
Which way should the fan go.. blowing up or down? I just read where its not a good idea for the fan to be blowing air on the eggs? Is this right or personal preference? This is my first time using a non home made incubator so just curious. TIA
I have been trying to find detailed pictures on proper rack placement. I bought one and all the racks were pulled out; and I have tried to get them lined up but they keep snagging on each other. There are two holes on one side and two groves on the other. Any help would be appreciated.
I wouldn't stress to much about it unless it gets really high 105+ for hours then you have something to be concerned about. Hens normally get off the nest and back on many times a day so embryos typically have temperature fluctuations in the wild.
I have had them two weeks but I am guessing they were approx. two weeks old when I got them. They had almost completely feathered out wings and the closest picture timeline put them around twelve days old. They only lack feathers on their head and under their wings but feathers are starting to...
