I'm thinking this isn't normal - please look and help

I should have mentioned that we do not have a rooster. Perhaps one of the other hens is picking at her. Or maybe they all are. What bothers me is the loss of feathers as well as how sickly some of the remaining feathers look.

What size fencing to keep foxes out?

Oops, my mistake - seems the mesh is not 1x2 but rather 2x4. Do you think this is still small enough to keep a fox out. Not sure how small they can make themselves. I assume if the head fits then the whole body would too. Steve

What size fencing to keep foxes out?

I thought about 1x1 and would love to use it but it comes in very small rolls and two foot width. So it looks like it will be 1x2 at best. Interesting about extending the mesh out rather than in. Thank you for that! Steve

Knowing the foxes will figure this out pretty quick I'm building a new enclosure with mesh on top as well as all around. My question...

Winter - do I need a light for heat?

We have four chickens, a Rhode Island Red, Bar Rock, Buff Orpington and one of unknown breed. All are, I am told, cold hardy. My question. Do we need to have a light in the coop for warmth this winter? We live in Colorado Springs, CO and it can get pretty cold every now and again. I've read...

Help needed building a chicken run

Wow, what great feedback! Thanks to everyone for your posts. I've made notes and will be planning my permanent run for construction in the spring. For now I've taken the path of least resistance and built an enclosure from seven foot metal posts and plastic poultry netting. Predators are not...

Help needed building a chicken run

Hello group! This is my first post here and I'm really hoping I'll get some guidance on building a chicken enclosure/run. We have four hens and have build a 4x8 foot enclosure with roost. This worked fine until we decided the girls needed a tad more room to roam. Being new to the whole chicken...
