Help! Recovering chicken's beak has grown so she cannot eat! Do I trim it?

Yes, I ended up trimming with a nail clipper too. No big deal! Wrapped her in my lap and it took two seconds. She was so thirsty and hungry! So glad I noticed it and found YouTube video to see how. Seems there is always something new to learn. Thanks, Anne

Help! Recovering chicken's beak has grown so she cannot eat! Do I trim it?

I have nursed my Americana hen after a dog mauled her. She lost a lot of skin on her neck. Finally, after a month, that has healed, but I know her neck must still bother her. But she had been eating well until recently. Yesterday I noticed that her upper beak has grown out and under, sort of...

    Wash sick chicken?

Thanks for your help! She is back on regular food, and in an x-pen inside the run because as you mentioned, the others are being really mean. I've also lobbed her a few earthworms over to her, and the other chickens are outraged if they don't get them also. Thanks again, Anne

    Wash sick chicken?

Thanks very much. Sorry as not able to post photo. Her injury was only to the neck, she lost feathers and most of skin on part, but now healing and now scabbed over. Only odor is poop. So we dodged infection issue. I gave her a bath in warm water with small amount of dish soap and tea tree oil...

    Wash sick chicken?

I've been nursing an injured chicken that was mauled by a dog six days ago. She is wrapped in a towel in the shower stall. Giving her sugar water mixed with orange juice and powdered greens, I think she is getting better. But so stinky and dirty. Just noticed some tiny insects crawling onto me...

Chickens mauled by dog, recovering, getting water and nutrition into them

My three chickens were attacked by one of our dogs four days ago, and two are going to be OK. I had them in a shower stall ICU for four days, feeding them sugar water with eye dropper first day. Now the two want regular food, and ready to go out again. Poor Henny, she's in bad shape, she lost a...

At last, SAFE RAT BAIT Eradibait from UK

Updates to my post: 1. Eradibait refunded my PayPal payment, as the EPA has not approved this for sale in the U.S. It was approved for the EU in 2013. 2. This stuff has two ingredients: ground corn cobs amnd molasses. Why does EPA need to approve this? 3. Wikipedia says the cause of death is...

    Predator Proofing

Hmm, I am trying to visualize this. Say you have a perimeter fence you don't want anyone digging under. Do you unroll a roll of hardware cloth out flat on the ground, around at the base of the fence? Then bend a 3" edge down into the earth at bottom of fence? So it is horizontal except for the...

At last, SAFE RAT BAIT Eradibait from UK

I've been trying to buy this for years, and finally was able order online this morning. It has been hard to get because it is only sold in the UK, unless you are professional exterminator in Washington State. At least that's what I was able to piece together. In 2013 my sister in Yakima looked...
