    Incubator for a first timer?

Just in case, I added a normal kitchen thermometer so I can cross reference. I think there is a way to calibrate hygrometers and test their accuracy so you can be sure that the one you buy works well...

    Incubator for a first timer?

I use one from Walmart. It's super cheap, around 8 dollars, and very accurate for me. And before anyone freaks out about the temperature, I have a still air incubator and the temperature on the eggs themselves are 99.5/100 :)

    Dead egg?

Hello, I'm a first time incubator too! I'm pretty sure your egg has what is called saddle air sac. Are your eggs shipped or local? Eggs that have been mailed or transferred typically has this issue. Unfortunately, this egg may not make it. With an irregular air sac, the chick will have problems...

    Incubator Humidity Too High?

Beginner hatchet here. I have a DIY still air styrofoam incubator that usually keeps a steady 100-102°F and a 45-50% humidity. However, the humidity jumped to 60% for an hour or two while I was away. I immediately cracked open my incubator to lower it as soon as I noticed. My eggs have only been...

    Incubator for a first timer?

I'm a first timer too. A week ago, I ordered one of those 7 eggs one online and stupidly, I didn't read the reviews until AFTER I bought it. So before it even arrived, I decided to build my own incubator because I have a dozen eggs ready to go. I made my incubator out of a styrofoam cooler...

    - Which breeds or types of chickens are good egglayers? - I'm relatively new to the "chicken business", but I have 5 one year old golden comets who have provided me with 5 eggs a day without fail (even through the winter) since they began laying. - How do you get the best production from your...

Baby chick sick! Please help me!

UPDATE: Pom Pom made it to week three ! She is still alive and kicking, and really starting to eat more. However, she's still small as ever and despite being three weeks old, she doesn't have a single feather on her save her wings. All my other babies have grown up and are moving out of their...

Baby chick sick! Please help me!

I put a few drops of Vet Rx in the brooder to prevent any respiratory problems. My other chicks are still growing incredibly fast compared to Pom Pom. They are all a week old today! Little Pom Pom still seems to be drinking more than she's eating, and sometimes she would throw up water from her...

Baby chick sick! Please help me!

I just ordered electrolytes and vitamins off of amazon (hope it gets here before it's too late!) The feed I have was given to me by the chick's seller, so I'm not sure if it's medicated or not. I may have to go out and purchase some. My chick (we named her Pom Pom) takes in fluids willingly from...

Baby chick sick! Please help me!

My baby chick is three days old. It has been lethargic and pooping basically water ever since we bought her (from a farm, not online.) She is half the size of the rest of the chicks we had gotten that day. They are all alert and doing very well, but she is constantly sleeping, losing her...
