This is my first year and first Winter with BYC. It's 20 degrees out and I may not get to my coop till sunset which means my eggs may be frozen. Can I take them in and put them in the frig and they're still good, or the fact that they're frozen render them worthless ?
Thank you in advance for...
This is my first winter with my BYC and I was wondering whether or not to put a heater, probably 75 watts in my coop. I live in Southern NJ 10 miles inland from the coast. and we rarely get into single digits, mostly teens in the dead of winter. I have 4 dominicker chickens that are 1 year old...
I'm a newbie to BYC's but love it. I have a 4x4 coop with 4 hens in it and was wondering if water is needed overnight. They just seem to make a mess out of it, and they get plenty of water through the day. It is November and I'm in NJ. I know there are a lot of nipple feeders I could build for...
I hope this is the right place to put this question. I'm new to BYC and I do know there are a few things you shouldn't feed your birds. My Barred Rocks have discovered my bird feeders and are reaping the rewards of what falls on the ground.
So, is that ok for them to eat wild bird seed ???
I'm new to Backyard Chickens. I would really like to let my Hens free range, but I do live in the country and have never seen a fox in my area in the daytime.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Getting excited about starting with BYC's. Does anyone have recommendations places for buying coops in the Southern NJ area ?
Looking for new, but will buy used if the price is right.
Hello Everyone,
I'm just getting started with backyard chickens so to speak. I live in Southern Nj 20 miles northwest of Atlantic City. Bought a coop tonight on line and hope to have 3-4 hens this summer. I'm hoping to get Buff Opringtons if possible.
Anyone have a reccommation where to buy...
