LOL! YES! I let my girls out between 7&8 am and I lock em back up as they meander back in around sunset. So funny to watch them chase bugs!
Just had a neighbor (that has tried to turn us in for having chickens numerous times) drain his pool into our backyard :( We were getting sporadic rain...
I’ve officially gotten 20% pellets and grabbed some side oyster shell. (The bird feeder was on sale, grabbed that instead) :)
Also grabbed a nut/seed/raisins mix until I can start whipping up some goodies <3
Think I’m going to do a sprout box that sets on the ground.
So excited! :)
Thanks...
Thank you for the clarification about the stems and the tips about the drying of the cilantro and parsley.
I for sure feel myself going in this direction with all the herbs. I garden a bit with my kiddos already. :)
In regards to the Silkie, she lays about a month out of the year and then goes all broody. I have a family member that’s sure she’s dying all the time. I take her out of the coop daily and make her walk around.(I just think it’s goo for her seeing as she has no rooster)
You have a good point...
Ah. I’m getting a lot of insight. Thank you all, and I hope they keep coming! I recently listened to someone explaining to me that crumbles (in the crumble/pellet world) were essential for layers. In my mind, crumbles 1. are wasted faster 2. make a slushy mess when it storms 3. are the same as...
I’m not right or wrong here, but I boost mine up on a regular basis by lightly scrambling an egg with dice up fresh garlic and add a t of Apple Cider Vinegar to their water from time to time.
Since she’s such a babe still, I’d try raw egg even.
Also, it’d take too long to sprout at this point...
We have 3 laying hens (Silkie, Golden Wyandotte, and Naked Neck) and one Americauna that has a month or so before she begins laying.
I know this is a great debate among chicken owners, so let’s go this route:
What has been YOUR personal best experience with pellets vs crumbles, brands...
Hello again! I have not gone to a vet. I went and bought some sort of electrolyte powder for their waters and she pepped up a bit after that. However, something is still terribly wrong. The one that passed I left alone and let sit. Was trying to let her "work it out"...this time I've made a...
No, but when they fall ill with whatever this is, they will come by me and lower their head and kinda push up their wings and let me pet them and pick them up...which is unusual-since they've been grown and begun laying, they like their space. ;) I also keep a fan going outside at all times, we...
I wish I came to you with a fun story, but I am in need of some advice.
About 2 months ago, our chickens started laying! YAY!! We were so excited! Well...today one passed. I really thought she was getting better, she was walking around and everything! Now, a second one is showing the same...
I posted this initially in the "Welcome Forum", and was re directed to this one. Thank you for taking the time to read!
