Interesting. I know mine is pure Orpington..both parents are positively Lavender Orpingtons..so that's why it's so strange.
Was yours produced by both Lavender Orp parents?
I'm by FAR no expert :) But I've heard of buff leaking through, ive had it happen with some of the blacks i've had.
I'm sure someone else can be more elaborate..i'm curious too!
yay! Thanks..and I think it's a cockerel, look at the size of those legs! lol.
I should've known it was a Splash, it's not blue, it's not black. lol. Just wasn't sure. I've never dealt with Splash anything before.
everyone has such beautiful birds!!
I picked up Ameraucana chicks at the show, I know one is Lavender..the other I was told B/B/S. But which? lol. Can anyone tell me for sure, or do I need to wait?
@Kambrie..that is very neat :) I love Sebrights..we saw some at the show this weekend, and the kids immediately gravitated to them. My 6 yr old said they look like butterflies, which he loves! Thinking of getting some in the future :)
I will definitely be keeping it..Im sure it'll be gorgeous!! :) But will I be incorporating it into my flock of Lavenders..I doubt it! lol. I don't want to mess with the pure Lavender genes I have. Luckily I know which hen it is..it's the only possibility since the parents which I have all came...
I think i figured out why. I have a roo and a hen in my flock (laying) that I hatched from the other flock members eggs last year...while they were being kept with other pure Orpington colors (blue, black, and buff roosters). The father of the hen or roo that produced this egg could have been...
Hi all! I have some Lavender Orpington eggs hatching under some hens, and they come from my flock of 100% Lavender Orpingtons, no possibility of anyone cross breeding as I only have these and Seramas and they are seperate.
The chick that just hatched is almost ALL yellow with a spot of...
Do you mean SILKIED, or Silkie? Two different breeds/genetics. I get confused when I hear people say Silkie Ameraucana or Silkie Serama..I think they mean SILKIED. Silkied is a feather type, SILKIE is a breed.
you're welcome :) Neat thing is..I saw the original post years ago..and thought "oh neat!" and just moved on..then recently a friend said she was picking some up and I'm like WHAT!? I recall reading something about them..lol. So she took 2 and I took 4. They came from a breeder is Georgetown...
