Would they have the droopy tail feathers at 9.5 weeks? There's definitely a red tone to the comb and tiny wattle, but hope that normal in a girl too at this age! I wish I could find a photo of a male to compare! THANKS ALL :)
BTW ladies, here is updated pics of Bean, my BA now at a full 7 weeks.... still guessing as to the waddle pink color, but hardly a comb, tail quite large too....arrrr!?! Thanks so much for your expertise :)
Thank u both! If anything "Bean" as my daughter named it, is not dominant of the three at all so fingers crossed and I'll repost soon! ....we also have a Brahma and Isabel cuckoo orpington ( Sugar and Bunnie!) ... so to answer your question, my coop and run were Ft. Knox, buried hardware wire...
Hi, kind of newbie here...my 2 beloved pet hens were killed off during winter in an instant, never free range in Winter! Anyway I decided to try again...can't live without those silly things! I have 3 now but wondering if the BA may be a roo, which I can't own in my neighborhood.... anyone?? It...
I MEAN MY THREE GIRLS! (ACTUALLY MY SILKIE TURNED OUT TO BE A ROO, BUT IS LIVING A NICE LIFE WITH OTHER SILKIES ON A NEARBY FARM, AS WE COULDNT KEEP A ROOSTER IN MY HOOD) - ELEANOR BECAME ELLIOTT, OR ELLIE NONETHELESS
I RECENT LOST MY TWO ONLY RSL HENS ONLY 8 MOS OLD TO HAWK - IN MY YARD, BASICALLY IN THE FIVE MINUTES THEY WERE NOT ATTENDED TO WHILE I WAS OUT IN THE YARD. THEY ARE BOLD THIS WINTER IN BUFFALO! I AM RELUCTANT TO GET ANY MORE. I AM SO STRESSED AND SAD BECAUSE OF THE ATTACK. THEY WERE OUR PETS...
yes you all were right, Eleanor (Elliott now) starting crowing and it was exhausting bringing him in every morning at 6 Am so he wouldn't disturb the neighbors. However, he crowed A LOT throughout the entire day. So he just went to his new home yesterday - a cousin's farm with 20 acres and get...
Well at 17 weeks, my Silkie, Eleanor began crowing!! a bit loud in a.m. Living in the burbs but really not allowed to have roosters! Neighbors know about our 3 chicks, but no one has said anything yet about the noise. I may re home. It's so mean to stop them from crowing, seeing all the posts...
Those are sooo adorable! My silkie ... just realizing he may be a male at 14 weeks old now and trying to make some weird crow noise.... he is NOT friendly at all. I know everyone says Silkies are friendly. My two RSL hens are by far, friendlier and all 3 were raised by us in the house as...
Eleanor is now about 13 weeks old....she or he, does have that wattle but no stray feathers, on head or hackle feathers....her demeanor is quite shy compared to my other two pullets ISA browns.....actually she is the scary cat of the bunch. She's from TSC. I'd appreciate thoughts, not really...
thanks!!! After reading about behaviors, my silkie is definitely the shy one of the group and last to get a treat because the other 2 brown hens steal it from her!
