    Incubation help

Also another question, we bought our 2 ducks from tractor supply. With hatching our own, do I need to vaccinate them? I've read that they don't need it, but I'm curious as to what the experts think ;)

    Incubation help

So a few of you may remember me posting a few days ago. My pekin duck eggs are now day 26. No pips yet. The air cell is really small for 26 day ducks, but thanks to your suggestions it's grown a bit. Now looking like a 10 day air cell in some of them. There's 5. Im staggering the hatches I...

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

There are so many of you who talked me through my duck incubation problem with 21 day eggs having the air cell of 7 days. I bought a humidity detector for the room they are in, it is 62%! I placed it in my incubator this morning and it's reading dead on what my incubator says as far as temp...

oh no!!!! that stinks :/ thank you for all your help. I may just lower the alarm to that myself and not add any water to it and see how it does. Need those air cells to shrink up quick! Lockdown is in 4.5 days.

Yes that does make sense! What % should I aim for with this thing? Its sitting at 49% right now and I set the alarm for 40%. is 40% still too much?

I have no idea honestly, but I bought a meter that someone here recommended that should arrive tomorrow. I will use it to test the room as well as the incubator I plan to hatch them in since there's no monitor for it in the smaller one. I've never thought it was too humid in that room, they are...

yes I've wiped it all out as best and quickly as I could. I now have rice in the channels. Hope that will do the trick when it comes to drying them out a little. It is currently at 52%

No since I had it set to 55 it was staying in that 55-60 range. Would only go off about once a week to add a little more water.

yes there's not a vent I can open on this, it just has some small build in holes for circulation. This is the link to the one I have. https://www.amazon.com/CHIMAERA-Automatic-Incubator-Hatcher-Display/dp/B01IWEKA32/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1478097588&sr=8-7&keywords=chicken+incubator

I placed a sock with rice in the 'bater last night, haven't noticed a difference. I will pour it into the channels! What should my goal humidity be? I obviously got bad info when I started this journey (Not from BYC)

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yes it does. Ive been fighting it the last 2 days to get the humidity down. Placed a sock with rice in it last night and a dry cloth in the bottom (After I wiped away all the obvious moisture), its still hanging out at 55-60%!

That is the same brand, mine is a little different though. It has incubation days, time until turn, temp and humidity monitors all on the front.

Truthfully I don't know! I have it set up in my bedroom. It's the only room I have that I'm sure the kids won't bother the eggs. it's an enclosed garage turned into a room so the temp varies usually from what's on the thermostat but only by a degree or so. We are in NC so we have some harsh...
