One of TSC's new breeds, Seven of Nine is a "Smokey Pearl". Very large and all white.
They're a large bird, and not friendly towards people. But right now he's living with another rooster and hens so that can't exactly help his temperment.
He'll eat treats from your hand, but will be rough...
I wound up with 3 roosters out of a flock of 6, and 2 of them are definitely mean.
I don't really have the equipment to process them effectively, but I don't want them to go to waste if I can avoid it. I was hoping to avoid this problem for a while yet.
Does anyone know of a butcher or someone...
You were 100% correct. All three wound up being roosters.
Both Janeway and 7 of 9 (especially 7 of 9) wound up being MEAN roosters too, so they're probably going to be cat food soon unfortunately.
The fact that 3 of the 5 wound up being roosters, poor luck.
So upon further review and looking at wynadottes at similar ages, I believe Janeway is a cockerel.
Still no idea on Riker, but now I'm really hoping they're a pullet.
As promised, a full update and pictures of all the babies.
So to start with, the chicks have not wanted to stay in the coop the past few nights, and had to be coralled back in at night. Obviously not ideal, so they are locked in the coop for the next week while they start to learn that it's...
The babies have escaped their temporary holding, and have integrated a little early.
It seems to be going well, so I'm letting this continue.
I will have a full update Saturday or Sunday on how they're doing.
Entry #3
After seeing how sassy this photo looks, I decided to also enter Slurpee, front view, cold-hearted bug eater edition.
Even if the eyes here are a smaller focus of the photo, I like the framing better than my second entry.
The babies are out in the coop today 😭.
My current coop is not really designed with an integration chamber, so I've essentially just moved the brooder into the coop. They definitely need more space, but this is the best I've got for now.
Slurpee heard them chirping and seemed bewildered by the...
Thanks for the included picture! That's very similar to what I'm planning on building.
Although with deep litter I wonder if the swinging door will operate alright. Still planning that part out a bit.
The gable roof question may actually be silly bow that I think about it. If the heat rises to the middle, you'd just need the airflow to clear that channel going from one gable to another.
I'm going through bit of a rough few months, and when that happens it helps me to hyperfixate on some hopeful aspect of the future - in this case building my dream coop one day.
So while I'm thinking about and redesigning my dream coop in my head again, I figure I'd ask the community for some...
I’m so glad I happened across this thread! Your Terror Fowl are much like my Gallus Raptor project (far future project) in a manner of regards. “Little” dinosaur birds.
Indo is quite the specimen. I think I’m in love! 😍 And wing claws too? After my own heart here.
I’ll be breeding largely for...
Personally I use the automatic drinking cups. I can just dunk their beak in like any watered and hey seem to figure it out.
I have a bunch of them in a 55 gallon drum so I don’t need to worry about watering them too often
