Oh ..... yes..... I knew better about the humidity level!! Not one of the hygrometers I have can be calibrated but I did do the "salt in a bag" test and one was +5% and one was -5% so not too bad. The air sac is about the same in all of the eggs.......in the round end covering the whole area...
18 eggs went in--two were quitters, one infertile--now 15 left looking good on day 15. I check a couple eggs every other day and the air sac seems a bit small, not too bad but want to make sure it is good. I have tried three different hygrometers and only one of them is close to the digital...
Planted some hops rhizomes in a raised box that is around the base of a small windmill. Dug up a 4 X 4 plot and put 2 dozen lily of the valley pips in the ground. Dug up a few small volunteer elm trees. Made sure my drip line works. This is in my perennial flower spot.........Now to wait at...
Have you overall been happy with the brooder plate? I just got my first one.....chicks hatch in 10 days. I want to make sure it works like it should and I know how to use it before they get here. I had wondered if crowding could be a problem? To the OP, is height the key to success?

Blooie, I think we came from about the same background.....and I am 61 so about the same time frame too. I am like you......love my garden and having some of our food but mostly because of the possibility that food won't always be available at the store. I try to stay informed about safety...
I fully agree with everything you said.....but I will admit to being a farmer/farmer's wife and we raise GMO corn and soybeans. We understand both sides of this debate and we do our utmost to ensure that we are good stewards of the land and raise safe crops. In answer to your query about non...
Many of you have been members on this site for a long time but I see MANY posts in the "new member introduction" forum. Have you seen an increase in the number of new members or is it always this busy here? Great place to learn about raising birds as there is so much experience and knowledge...
