Hello! So I am new to turkeys and I currently just have 1 tom. He’s about 9 months old and I’ve seen some of his poop be runny. Considering I haven’t dewormed him yet, I thought I would do so to see if that helps the problem. I bought safeguard so it’s liquid and I’ve seen people say administer...
The entire top of his beak is gone. He still thinks the rest is there so he pecks at food like he isn't missing the other part of it. Ive seen him get some food and he can drink water and still seems happy so far.
So a couple weeks ago I had an attack on my chicken coop killing most of them except for 5 chickens. I've sinced put them in a smaller pen until the bigger one gets fixed to keep them safe. Unfortunately, somehow during the attack my one young chicken got a cut in his beak. Looked like a normal...
He is a very respectful Roo. Maybe to respectful and he's letting my top hens peck him. This is the first Polish I've ever had so I've never had to even deal with a problem like this. Glad nothing is to wrong with him. Thank you guys so much for your help !! I'll invest in some BluKote spray to...
Hello Everyone ! Just looking for some answers on why my roosters head looks like this. They're all healthy, happy as far as I can tell. I brought him in today and checked to see if maybe mites or lice were the problem though they've all already been treated and like I suspected, no mites but...
Thank you so much for your input ! He was the sweetest little guy and I wanted to have him in the house but my parents wouldn't allow it and he unfortunately fell into a little pond we have and passed away :hit
Hello ! I have a young pheasant only a few weeks old that has a messed up leg. Leg was fine when hatched but must of gotten injured as some point and now he cannot walk properly. I was thinking maybe his hip is out of place or something ? First picture is of normal leg.
My rooster never crowed, had spurs, tried mating, and even had female feathering up until he was about 7 months old. Longest it ever took me to realize a gender of a bird. I have also have a female bird exhibit male behavior such as mating and having some hackle feathers but she still lays eggs...
I have dealt with Mareks a good amount and has been in my flock for about a year now. I feel like if your rooster had mareks, I feel like you would see more symptoms other than eye color changing if its early on. It honestly might be his eye color unless it never used to be a light color. Here...
I have found out what gender Penguin is..........Drum role............... A BOY !
It has finally been confirmed... by me haha. That Penguin is indeed a boy. He mated a hen in front of me yesterday, tried to crow and I noticed he is growing spurs.
Lucky for him we don't mind the slightest bit...
I have personally used DE for when I had an outbreak of mites. I'm not sure if there is a difference in mites and live and how they react to DE, but it worked wonderful for me. I cleaned out my entire coop. Then I put a thin layer of DE around and covered it with new bedding and then mixed it...
I personally have gotten no eggs since the days got shorter from my 11 hens. A few just never lay anymore (Only 3), but you know, they lay a lot of eggs in their life and this is the one time a year they get a break They should pick up once the days get longer. Good luck :)
I will definitely let you guys know ! But yes ! @Lady of McCamley I was thinking about that. Kind of going to create more Mareks resistant chicks on accident, but needed. His father and brother died from the disease, so he is a strong one. Really hoping he fills out to be a rooster. I will also...
Even if "he'she" starts to lay. I would have no clue as I have many females and do not get a specific number per day and some of my girls are around 4, and only lay some days. I'm thinking after the days lengthen, if I still do not know. I will separate him to know for sure if he'she lays an egg.
I always thought he was a hard one to tell and you guys have definitely reassured that. His mom is a red sex link and his father was a barnyard mix, Faverolle mix of some sort. I hatched him myself. So, for a while (about 5 months) he had a brother with him. His brother was about a month older...
Okay, thank you. That is what I am hoping for. He's one of my favorite babies and still loves to be pet and be around people. Even children are capable of holding him. Hopefully the hormones don't change him to much.
So, I've had this guy since he was an egg. His name is Penguin. I was told by you guys when he was younger that he was 100% male but so far he has shown no "rooster attributes". He is at the bottom of the pecking order, shows no interest in the ladies, and has not even attempted to crow, plus...
