I have three Nankin hens and would like to find them a rooster and possibly some baby sisters. My hens are single comb but rose comb is fine. I do not show or breed chickens they will strictly be for pets. I am located in southern Iowa. Chicks would be ideal but would consider healthy older...
Murray McMurray doesn't breed gold spangled hamburgs. Only silver spangled or golden penciled. So I am back to thinking a pencilled Hamburg for my roo...
If Yorkshire Coop doesn't see the message board, I may message her ;) Thanks! So far there hasn't been any crowing that I have noticed from this one, but with all the crowing going on in my hen house and that big top knot hiding her face I may have missed it! lol
I looked up the Hamburg and I think your right, except it's probably a Golden penciled Hamburg? But he doesn't look like the roosters of either breed, he looks like their hens! He crows a LOT....
Also the Campine is very likely! Thank you, I wasn't aware of that breed and they look a lot alike!
My first mystery chick was a buttercup roo who is now 9 weeks old. The little one is 5 weeks old and because of similar coloring and leg color I thought she was a buttercup too. BUT now I see a huge difference in her comb so she can't be a buttercup, she is sporting a single comb from what I...
These chicks are 9 weeks old and not sure if I have two hens or if the one with the beard is a roo? Any help? So far from Murray McMurray I have 3 roosters in my lot of 15 that were supposed to be all hens, and I didn't included the mystery chick that is also a cockerel! Do they usually have...
This chick (Amy) is not growing her feathers like all the other chicks are. They have been mostly feathered for awhile and she is just not making much progress. Should I be worried? Is this normal? She is on the left in the bottom pics. They are 7 weeks old partridge rocks.
This is Wynonna, Wynonna is a jerk! She bit me twice yesterday. She is the only one with a red comb so far and her waddle is already starting to show. I can't tell if maybe she is older than the others, just an aggressive hen or if she may be a rooster.... either way she has an attitude problem...
New batch of chicks from a different hatchery. AND another mystery chick turns out to be a buttercup I think! no puffy cheeks, same markings as the first and green legs! Guess I was meant to have a pair of buttercups <3
I have 16 chicks, 8 in each container. I have had them for one week and have not mixed the chicks up from one tote to the other. My question is: Should I be mixing them up every time I clean out their bedding so they will all be used to each other?
